A Dragon's Christmas - POE5, MFH VII, TRH II Hunts

Oneiria felt awkward without her usual wings and teeth. She always felt awkward in her human form, that tiny two-legged shape was more a burden than a pleasure, so slow, so weak. Yet… Prince Talias, her fiancé, had never seen her in her real form, a magnificent red-and-gold dragon. Dearest Talias, he wanted to marry her, and he intended to break the news with his family at Christmas Eve... and what could Oneiria do? She would play along, she indeed liked Talias quite much, he was handsome, patient and generous.

Christmas Eve... Oneiria remembered those evenings with her own family, the feast, the fun, the laughter. Her folk was gone by now, but she still could hear the chatter and the music, her little brothers howling and giggling, and she still could smell the delicious roast her mother used to prepare. Mmmmm... the roast. Maybe she could have that this Christmas. Talias and his family were well fed, nice people, she recalled. Oneiria softly cackled and her golden eyes twinkled ominously. Christmas time wasn’t that ugly, after all.

December is THE hunting season in SL, so many generous and talented designers shower you with gifts at Christmas time, and what can you do? You’re forced to pick what you like most, which doesn’t mean that the other gifts are worthless or ugly... only that you, one little blogger, do indeed have limited time to show the world one small slice of SL creativity. So, where to begin?

Ground control to...

Yes... she'd taken her protein pills and put her helmet on...

This was no normal mission, no normal space agency. This was the 60s!  Bespectacled men packed into rows of consoles back at the rocket base had their ranks swollen by stylish female graduates. Some of the first of their kind, studying on par with the boys, maintaining their femininity and good looks all the while. Sophia was the first to join the cadets, those destined to pierce the firmament on a journey to the stars. No bulky spacesuit for her. The department had been flexible, as she offered to take the greatest risks, she got to have her say, in the science, and the stilettos. There was always the danger that Austin Powers would show up, and the launch would turn into a conga line.. but not this time.. as the countdown ticked to zero, she was up, and off into the darkness.

Tapping on the nosecone of the rocket, her message returned to earth, reverberating down the long string tying her to base. Through the vacuum of space, particles of dying star, of light and dark itself brushed passed her. But as her TV advertisement spots had shown the viewing public, the fabric of her suit was stain and particle resistant, and could be laundered at just 30 degrees! As the string behind her was payed out, and the reflected light of the earth faded behind her, she began to look around, searching the darkness, until.. making her kohl rimmed eyes flare open... the tap on the back of her helmet...

Austin!!!

The 60s were sexy, no doubt, as shown by this vintage space suit by [*RD*], available of course, at the Vintage Fair. You can just about see the globe of the helmet in the second image. There was no getting away from the Austin Powers silliness once that image got in my head of course, so going into space on the ride on rocket - a single pose free gift at the Vintage Fair from *~*HopScotch*~* is also available to buy, with more poses included. Here I've used the same eye makeup from Lovely Mi as in my last post, because I like it, and here you see it on a different skin. The spatter paint look of it is unusual to most makeups I've seen. The skin worn here is ::Modish:: Valena Fair, also a gift from the Vintage Fair. Its a sweet skin, almost porcelain in tone, with rosy pink lips. Could be ideal for doll joint tattoo layers! Those heels, I've been a big fan of N-Core heels for a long while, generally when buying any heels, having opted for the styles that include a foot. These don't and don't need to, as there's no warping of the foot which has put me off such styles in the past. The Vintage Fair runs until August 29.

Tick Tock

„If I can’t scratch my nose in a second, I’m going to die on this spot” – thought Clicketina Tock, and wriggled her nose anxiously. But when you are Universal Vice Manager of Time, you cannot just jump around and do somersaults. You accidentally push an hourglass attached to your dress, and the people living in Australia, Peru or Luxemburg realise that there’s something seriously wrong with time. A second ago they were eating lunch and suddenly it’s deep night, or they were slumbering comfortably and now there’s midday sunshine pouring into the bedroom. „Damned Chronos!” – thought Clicketina angrily. After hundreds of thousands of years of service, her boss suddenly decided to go on holidays… and, given that the length of his accrued vacation time was about fifty thousand years, Clicketina wasn’t expecting to see her boss very soon.

„How dared he leave me here, all on my own!” – grumbled Clicketina silently. „He had a great assistant, me, and now I don’t even have a third-class candidate for temporary apprenticeship to help me, and my nose itches like hell!” Clicketina tried to resist, but the itch was stronger. She started sneezing… and the people in Australia, Peru and Luxemburg fell out of their beds or dropped their spoons and looked around in utter confusion. „This is the end of the world!” – some people thought anxiously… while it was only Clicketina Tock rubbing her nose with a beatific smile on her face, and she felt she was the happiest creature in this wide, endless Universe.

Ohhh! I have some yummy stuff and I especially adore these boots from Baby monkey which come with a colour change hud and sock option so I can wear them with every outfit!
The hair is a new release at Love, I adore the curved slightly asymmetric fringe, the hair comes in 2 styles with or without hair tucked behind the ear - I rather like the tucked behind look it's a cute idea.
I am thrilled by the skirt too which looked mesh but isn't hurrah! and is a zombie popcorn hunt item at c'est la vie (look for a candy striped popcorn box)

XYROOM is closing on 25th January to set up for the new collection in February so be quick if you want to grab some awesome items at bargain prices. If you don't already own these shoes which are a group gift at Gabriel, then I ask why not? The hair accessory is goodness knows what from goodness knows where?! I just found it in my inventory and decided to stick on my head just because I thought I should at least give it a little life before I gave it the chop! It does make me wonder what other anonymous, long forgotten things are lurking in the deep depths of my inventory *goes off to investigate*
