Pirates of the Scarabbean

Scah Rab Anh was so close to the prize, oh so very close. A few more steps and she would finally fulfil the dream of generations and generations of her ancestors. She would finally put her hands on the Chest of the Golden Scarab, the treasure her great-grandfather's great-grandfather had already been hunting for... a treasure for which her family had left the golden Egyptian sands and embarked on a neverending journey on the high seas. Scah Rab Anh silently gulped (the responsibility was weighing her down, after all), and entered the fog that was floating at the entrance of the cave.

Trapped

Some day she would have her own little cafe. At least that was what she had been planing. For years, actually for many years. But this would only happen when the debt was payed. The debt which she had with those smugglers who brought her out of the lands she had been born in.

But this would take the same time again. Maybe if she would find an other job. But what could she do. There was hardly anything she had learned or which was able to stick in her mind besides of how to make coffee. Making contracts with coffeehouse demons was really not the best idea. On the other hand she could have gotten worse contracts, the accounting demons were always searching for new victims.

Auxiliary takes part in the rack this weekend. For this they made a sweater and a scarf both of rigged mesh. The sweater is wide enough to be combined with mesh pants as for example the hotpants from 22769. Those are available in several colours in their mainstore.The legwarmers come also from Auxiliary and are sold in a gatcha vendor at the side of the store. There are demos available so that it is possible to check which size fits best before using the gatcha. The horns also come from an Auxilary gatcha. They are made of nonrigged mesh with some lovely perl bands wrapped around them.
The hair is an other gatcha item. It is being sold at the legion project. There is a wide range of colours available.

Institutional Art

First days back at school were always a little different. Here at the Institute of Arts, where designers mingled with mystics and critics, things were perhaps a little more different than usual.

The mid afternoon gloom of mists rolling in off the lakes set the tone for those congregating on that side of the campus.

Rather than be restricted by medium, the institute was subdivided by muse. Kindred spirits of poet and sculptor worked side by side for the glorification, or damnation of their inspiration.

Dark played with Light in the minds of the artists as much as it ever did on canvas. Friendships and collaborations shifted with the refilling of each coffee cup.

Cigarette smoke curled into the mist as circles of glowing red embers danced with the flow of conversation, never to fall beneath the grind of a heel. This place, and all those in it were works of art.

There's something about this shade of teal that I just can't get enough of. I'm not a fan of blue in general - as in, it would not be my favourite colour - though I can certainly agree it has its uses. But this teal shows up in so many things I see and think innately beautiful. It also goes insanely well with this beautiful skin!

The whole styling of this lot pleases me immensely.

Twilight wanderings at Thrift 2

Nala walked in the mists. Slow pacing through the gloaming, the twilight flowed with her steps. Barefoot beneath her gown, toes curling into grass and leaf litter warmed by the sun, even below the canopy of trees.

The last of the dappled sunlight caressed her skin, reaching her through the twisted boughs of the trees high above. Colours in the twilight turned to match her hues, the bright mellowing to tones of purple and peach.

These colours were so much a part of her, they spread to all she touched, all she saw. Shadows spread from her gaze, closing petals of flowers for the night to come, sending creatures scurrying for burrows and nests.

Night followed her closely, just as she followed the day. To those who looked out for her, and were lucky enough to catch a glimpse as she passed by, Nala had a beauty all of her own, surpassed by none.

Lets Thrift again...

Down here she lurked, away from the cruel sunlight. It did not burn her skin the way it could the others of her ilk, but even so, its lurid colours hurt her dark eyes, the shimmering mirage of blues and greens in the ultra violet filled light were just too much to take.

Up there, during the reign of the sun, she was more at risk, more easily noticed. For all her powers and abilities, it was not her realm; the shadows soothed her and gave her strength. Darkness, dankness, the places where few would loiter, without some ungodly aims of their own, those were her stomping ground. Down here under the roads, away from sunlit crowds heading for the beach, in the eternal twilight of the subways she would wait.

Something of the night, of halloween itself lingered down here. Cool air seeping from the deepest tunnels unfurled miasmic tendrils, snaking silently around the ankles of those near the edges of subway platforms. Here her dark eyes took in all the manufactured light, sparks from the rails illuminating her skin. 

The red dart of her tail lightly caressed her next victim as they walked past, a smile curling her lips in anticipation of what was to come. Her dark gaze hypnotic as she moved closer, tail dancing, soon to coil close around them, cutting off their screams...

The Boxer

She was just a poor girl though her story's seldom told. 

She'd squandered her resistance for a pocketful of mumbles, such are promises. 

All lies and jest! Still the girl hears what she wants to hear and disregards the rest...

When she left her home and her family she was no more than a girl. In the company of strangers, 

in the quiet of the railway station, runnin' scared, laying low, seeking out the poorer quarters where the ragged people go. Looking for the places only they would know... And she's laying out her winter clothes and wishing she was gone, goin' home. Where the New York City winters aren't bleedin' her, leadin' her, goin' home... In the clearing stands a boxer and a fighter by her trade. And she carries the reminders of every glove that laid her down or cut her 'til she cried out in her anger and her shame,

"I am leaving, I am leaving" 

but the fighter still remains...
