The Lost Treasure of the Inca Warrior

The air was thick. After long days trekking through the clear thin atmosphere of the mountains and high passes, descending into the valley it posed as solid a barrier as the curling wall of greenery before her.
All jungles were dangerous, of course, but here there seemed something more malign, more ominous even than the shrieks of monkeys, and the claw marks around the camp site, fresh each morning. It was more than the insects, more than the crocodiles, each step along the trail was fraught with danger. Following paths once man made, but for centuries abandoned to animals and the elements. Each Inca statue a further clue, another task to complete, another treasure to find to placate the gods before progress could be made... Wait... Was that plant... growling?
She felt as though she had died a thousand times along the path. The insects, the bugs, the GIANT SPIDERS? Blasted by near inexplicable torrents of icy air, she had crossed rotting planks to fall into leech infested waters, been bitten by swarms of bats... did I mention the GIANT SPIDERS? As if staying alive in the jungle environment weren't enough, the trail tested far more than just her survival skills. Appeasing the statues meant hunting out objects they required, solving puzzles and riddles to find the gems they desired. At times the jungle itself was against her. That plant had more than growled, it tried to take a bite out of her...
It had been a long quest, but so full of danger and excitement that it seemed to have flashed by in mere moments. When she had set out, crumpled map in hand, she'd thought she was prepared. Now, with all she had seen, all she had done, she would never have believed it. No one would. But, there it all was, past the stone guardians and their bloody price - the treasure of the Inca - hers for the taking!

Madpeas have launched their latest game - The Lost Treasure of the Inca Warrior

Not your standard point and click (as if any of their point and click games are standard LOL) this HUD based game will take you through purpose built dedicated SIM environments, and have you hunting through stores. Each decision and step you take can result in injury or death - I think I died 78 times? I blame the lava. Yes, there is lava. Lots of lava. You will have to solve puzzles with crystals and lightbeams and riddles, all while avoiding giant spiders and falling rocks to get the wealth of prizes at the end.

The HUD to play the game costs L$1000 and comes with an outfit (male and female versions)

Tattoo : [White~Widow - NORMAL] Signs - Black
This prize comes in black and white versions - each with 'normal' 'low' and 'high' intensity ink.

The Interview...

She'd checked the address of the building before she left the apartment. She knew she had. Finishing university had been the goal for so long, the internships, the volunteering, and finally graduation. Only then had the phone stopped ringing, the emails no longer received more than a form response. It seemed the business world had only been interested when it could get her mind and her effort for free. Day after day, week after week sending out resume after resume. Then late last night, the chime of a message hitting her inbox. "Pleased to invite you to interview..." Now she was here, and faced with this. Had it been a cruel joke?
She'd knocked regardless. No way was she putting to waste the time she'd spent through the night steam cleaning her best suit, polishing her smartest heels. A voice had called from within, inviting her to come in. Even through the door she heard it, a voice sharp and efficient, albeit muffled by the wood. As she stepped through the door, something was immediately amiss. More than one thing was wrong with the room, starting with whatever had apparently happened to the cityscape outside of the window, and ending with its echoing emptiness.
Stepping further inside she was keen to make a good first impression, walking tall with a confident step. "Hello?" she called out, pleased that despite the serious case of the wiggins she was getting from the view, there was no quaver in her voice. Walking toward the apparently abandoned desk, on top of which rested a cigarette in the ashtray, still lit, still smoking, in a room with no doors save the one she had just walked through...
No one there, no answer to her calls. She had read enough about alternative interviews to think this might be some kind of a test. Sure, she had been expecting something along the lines of an impossible to answer question... like how many piano tuners there were in the country, designed not the test her knowledge, but her skills under pressure. This must be the next level to which the enigmatic company with the green logo and offbeat name had taken the idea of such a task. She would be unflappable. The shabby office block, the off putting sign on the door, the lack of a receptionist, and now... Theatre seats? Clearly the employer was looking for someone who could cope with the surreal, sitting down, she knew she would exceed their expectations.
Kicking back and relaxing was fine, she was as pleased to get off her feet as she was to make the good impression she was going for, however it was the employer was watching. Stretching out, she couldn't see any cameras, but she caught the light glinting on the face of her watch, illuminating something tucked under the seat of the office chair. Seconds later, the clipboard was in her hand, filthier than any clipboard had a right to be, she kept it away from her suit as she read the list of names, the thick ink of the last signature still fresh enough to smear under her thumb. Pulling the pen free from the clip, she signed on the final line.
A creak of metal, a soft cry of surprise, and the clunk of the metal door as it closed. From the far side of the room, a knock on the door. A voice, her voice, came down the line. She could only hope whoever it was could hear...

"DON'T COME IN!"

Coming from Madpeas on 1st April "The Interview"

There are three levels of game passes which will be available to play this latest ladling of insanity from the green spheres. Gold, Silver and Bronze.

Decking the halls

"Santa baby; slip a sable under the tree, for me..." Home alone this weekend, she could sing all she liked. Far from being a disney princess; the ones she had heard about anyway, those who sang or whistled and creatures of the forest showed up to do their housework. When she sang, they showed up alright, but tended to leave her home messier than they found it.
Rudi was one who always came to play for the holidays. She could never commit to plans on Christmas eve for some reason, but would show up late on the big day itself, pressing her shining nose to the window, looking for her Christmas dinner of spiced oats.
The 24th was still a way off, there was enough time between her decorating and all the training Rudi always seemed to start doing in the winter to take a day to relax. Warmed all the more by the fresh snow falling outside and the lights on the tree. She'd found the box of silly hats, and It's a Wonderful Life was just starting. It was going to be a great day.

Christmas is coming to Peatonville

Everyone all over the world loved Christmas, the lights, the decorations, the magic of it all. In the sleepy hollow of Peatonville, there was more to worry about than a Grinch on a hilltop. It wasn't that magic was any more real there than anywhere else; just that some of the residents believed it was. Santas aplenty roamed the streets, red spattered snow marking where they met, and fought for the right to wear the hat. For most it was better to stay indoors, where the worst they were likely to come down with was a bad case of tinselitis. For those who believed, they had to be out there in the magic. As snow fell from the darkness of the winter sky, strains of music could be heard. They came from sewers, dank alleys and abandoned buildings, delicate tunes drifting from their hats, their millinery for the season defining who they were. Just don't call her a nut-cracker...

Aaaaarrgghhh!!! Epic apologies for the absence, my hard drive died and it's taken so long to get back that I've missed nearly all of November! Here's a combination of Peatonville Asylum and Madpea's offerings at the Tannenbaum Holiday Event 2015.

Buried

The signs were posted all around, clearly marking the land surrounding the cemetery as off limits. There had been warnings from the townspeople, but these had been ignored with a polite nod by the corporation. Such warnings always were.
1
They were digging for financial gain, boring down into the earth, biting through grass, sod and stone. They found more than they bargained for. They had kept clear of the cemetery sure, with its imposing stone wall cutting through the woodland. The fragile wooden pegs outside the wall, an undulating boundary marking out some local superstition were much easier to brush aside. Shovels cut through earth, and came out, fingers gripping the blade.
2
The corporation should have listened. The woman who had been Patricia had slept beneath the earth for years, being woken like that, anyone would be angry. The others had been too, which of course, is the last thing the people of the town had wanted. The screaming had woken so many. Still, she mused... there really had been no call for the axe. She had just been trying on some of the things in the home which had once been her own. Even through the vague mists of consciousness, that had hurt to pull out. Now that the screaming had stopped, locals having taken to the hills, her headache was fading. She and her fellows would enjoy the spoils of the living for a while before climbing back down to sleep. You can join them down there, all it takes is a little bite...

OMGacha!

3 Snow had fallen as one year ticked into the next, the hand on the clock and fireworks bursting amid clouds swollen with winter whiteness. Some had melted in the horizon skimming sunlight of the days that followed, but more fell, and more, and more. Now the sunlight shone on a world draped in a crystalline blanket, powder soft and clean, muffling the sound of her feet. 2 No clipping or clopping accompanied her movement. As she drew closer to the bridge the soft sounds of Tchaikovsky wove through the air, with each step, a growing "C'thulhu fhtagn". Any strangers wandering in the woods during the beautiful dawn would likely be surprised, but all who dwelled in the neighbouring hamlets and villages wouldn't bat an eye. Soon enough she would bump into some of these friends, the sounds of her ride melding with whinnying, trumpeting and the curious noise of a giraffe greeting a dragon. Kicking off their shoes, they would walk, trot, and run in the wonderland of snow. 4
OMGacha is here again! The beautiful backdrop to these images is the SIM redecorated for the January round. A frozen fantasy filled with pretty gacha machines, each brimming with bargain goodies. There's a good amount of gachas for the bois in this round also. More may follow from this if I have the time! Meanwhile - check out these lovelies, and head on over!

Art and the Goth

1 Madrigal lived for the cabaret. There were dark times behind, people craved a few hours away from their personal horrors, from memory itself. There were dark times ahead, but shining mirrored lights would dazzle their eyes, and the unadulterated alcohol flowing from the bar shielded the audience in a blurred haze. There were dark time all around them, and in her most of all. Those who stumbled through the shadowed door, past the cheap pockmarked sign would doubtless assume it was the gaiety, the music, the drink itself that made them feel better. Madrigal knew better, and fed this misunderstanding just as she topped up each glass. Here in the darkness, she could take their pain away. Here in the darkness... she became their pain. Here in the darkness, and here alone. Just for a short while... 2 4 Music moved Artyra. In the Hall of Chellis she resided, some say reigned. Hers was the beat, and set the tone for all others of their sect. The dark heart swelled, contracting with a pulse that sent shivers up her spine, and flickered electric shocks across her synapses. The heart bent to her mood, fast or slow, calm or racing with energy just as need dictated. It was from here that she watched, through the eyes of others, all that needed to be done. Those outside the halls were bound to obey, each felt the push of sound wave, the pulse of blood. Their city, their way of life depended on it. Shadows would fall, and in them could be found those servants. Listen close, you may just hear her beat. 3

Creators have items up for sale of course, there are also vendors giving anything from 50% to 100% of the price of the item to the Sophie Lancaster Foundation.

The Lost Mine

It all started on a Tuesday. Not the most auspicious of days; a day, in fact for fools. Professor Madrigal Peabody was not generally regarded as a fool, but like all geniuses, he had his moments. After years of toil and research, he had invented a portal into another world and found a lost mine full of riches. Such wonders were his to behold, and yet his own world, and his duties there called him back. Being a scholar, a scientist, he of course drew out a map ensuring he could find the portal again at any time of his choosing. The universe gave, and then, with the turning of the stars, it took away. The Professor absent mindedly tore up the map, thinking it nothing more than his grocery list.
It was then that he asked for help, the pieces strewn by the winds all across the city. Adventurers and students answered his call, picking up bags to collect the torn pieces, they hunted through the city, gradually piecing together the lost map. Once the map was complete, each shred joined to the others, a shining light sealed the rents, and pulled the adventurer through the portal.
1
Finding their feet far from any city, scent of pine drifted on fresh breezes carrying the ringing of distant hammers, of low, deep voices. Walking through the woods, the adventurer tripped over a clod of disturbed earth, something deep within catching the sunlight. Voices rose at the nearby camp. Small people, Dwarfins male and female bustled along the path, drawn to the shining crystal.
2
They led the adventurer to a wooden door into the mountain. "There are more crystals." They explained; hidden all over the land. Only by collecting enough to fill the empty sockets in the door could any but a Dwarfin hope to progress, as the Professor had...
3
So the adventurer hunted, searching the woods, coves and the Dwarfin town; until the bag, so recently full of scraps of paper, clinked gently with its load of large crystals. Travelling back through woodland paths, once more the adventurer stood before the great door, sliding each crystal home. Shuddering, with a cloud of dust, the door began to move.
4
Deep in the darkness, cavern after cavern the adventurer walked through the lost mine. Soft light glowed from crystals much larger than any they had ever seen. Some caves were dead ends, others cunningly bored into the rock merely had the appearance of leading nowhere. Banners, each of a different colour, adorned some of the caves, and in these, solving riddles and puzzles, the adventurer found crystals of a deeper hue, collecting them all.
5
As the rainbow completed, and the final puzzle was solved all faith and trust was given over to a rickety wooden mine cart... and a journey on to treasure...

MadPeas have done it again!
Another 'point and click' adventure through SL - this time in three parts. Part one is in MadCity itself, then on to the Dwarfins SIM, then into a cave system to solve some fiendish puzzles, collecting and clicking as you go, before the crazy cart ride to the pile of prizes in the depths of the Lost Mine.

This game is a little different, as the things you have to 'pick up'  / click on  - pieces of crumpled paper or piles of earth are right out there in the open for anyone to see, and anyone to click on. You have to be quick! Once someone has clicked on it, their name will appear over the item, and it will disappear after they animate picking it up. The items spawn throughout the SIMs, they may re-spawn in the same place, but perhaps not for several hours.
For this game, after buying the game HUD for L$150, you can also buy 'Pea Clue Finders' a wearable Pea in pink or green, who gives hints as to where the next piece can be found. There are also Dwarfin 'Clue Finders', which do the same thing all L$150 each. As I'm something of a purist when it comes to hunts etc, I didn't buy these, so I can't really grumble too much when someone wearing one runs in and clicks on the item I was heading toward. Not saying no grumbling, but not too much!

On to the prizes shown here!

Shack : Never totally dead - The Shack
Map : Collage - The Professor's Map

Luck o' the Irish Steampunks

Moth Hat1
It was the luck of the Irish, so some said. Others saw fate's manipulation in the slowly turning cogs and gears, those hidden behind the veil, beyond the mist. Each theory had it's acolytes, those who would spread the word, and the belief, along with the spoils to any they counted close enough to be worthy of the secret. 2 The fluttering beat of the smallest moth's wings would send ripples around the world. Gold would shine from the depths, where only earth had lain before. Ghosts would ride these currents, alighting here and there, bringing fortune fair and foul. The bees would fly, their tiny furred bodies carrying with them the secrets of the dead to tempt the living with knowledge they could scarce afford to learn. 3 As the black velvet and spirits began to flow, those caught up by the luck, or by the design came to their feet. Fortune would never find you sitting in one place, you had to go looking for it, had to chase the rainbow's end, follow the eternal workings of the great wheel.

Drip Drip Drip – MadPea „Love Potion 9.9” Hunt

She was a nameless water fairy... better to say, she was Waterdrop No. 451900564778, assigned to service in the tiny well of a small village. Her work was boring. People came to the well, they filled their buckets and jugs, the women were chatting for a minute or two, then everyone went to do whatever they were supposed to do. Waterdrop No. 451900564778 remained there, in the bottom of the well, all alone. Until, one day, she got an idea.
Drip Drip
The next morning the inhabitants of the village gathered around the well that dried out overnight. The women were crying, and the men were loudly discussing ideas about what to do. “We should dig another well!” – someone said. Then someone else suggested they should clean the well they already had, and a third someone came up with the idea that they should appoint a permanent guardian to it... at which they suddenly heard a tiny “glug”. The water was back. Waterdrop No. 451900564778 let the villagers know, in no unequivocal terms, that she preferred company.
Water Fae
I think that the current MadPea hunt, “Love Potion 9.9”, is the best one ever organised until now. The storyline is entertaining, the clues are excellent (a big thank you and many, many compliments go to Elizabeth Tinsley, the mastermind behind the hunt!), the objects you have to collect are different in each shop, the endgame is anything but boring, and the gifts are... wow. So there’s only one thing that remains, you running to the starting point and buying the HUD for 50 L$, then just enjoy the trip! You have time until March 14th.

As to the gifts... where to start? This time I’m showing you the „Water Fae” outfit by Fantavatar & Moonstruck, which is amazing. The hairpiece and the shoulder pad textures are animated so water actually circulates around your limbs and you do look like a walking rivulet! The pretty necklace by *Amaranthus* also holds a surprise, just click on the locket and you’ll see. :)

Outfit: Fantavatar & Moonstruck „Water Fae Female” – MadPea Hunt prize.
Necklace: *Amaranthus* „Tied Locket” - MadPea Hunt prize.
Skin: Niekra’s Dreams “Frost Elf Skin” – Fantasy Hunt prize (1 L$). The hunt is on until February 21st.
Eyes: IKON Lucid Eyes “Optimism” – February group gift (0 L$). It’s free to join the group.
Poses: HelaMiyo “Dandy” - 50 L$ for one pose, the 10-pose pack costs 400 L$.

Room 326

Discover the mystery of the Silent Peacock Hotel...

What happened to the fifteen people who vanished after spending a night in the hotels room 326?

326 Hotel Sure the Hotel is a bit down at heel, a little shabby around the edges. You can't expect a place with a reputation like this to get so many guests as to warrant everything being kept like new.
Times were hard in this part of town, but even here, the management had decided that it just would not be reasonable to charge room costs to the accounts of those never seen again after visiting room 326...
 326 hallway
Welcome to another marvellous MadPeas Event! This is a grid wide novella, letting you into a dark world of long corridors, thickly carpeted to deaden any screams. Fifteen missing people, fifteen locations for you to search for an envelope, something you will hear each received shortly before their disappearance at the hotel.
Just make your way to the Silent Peacock Hotel, and buy a newspaper (50L$ for your game HUD) from one of the dispensers by the front doors.

Along the way you will visit some amazing stores, so be sure to take a look around while you are hunting, join groups, hit subscribos, buy the odd thing (or eleven if you are anything like me!). Help keep these wonderful merchants in business! Below you can find a few of the fantastic gifts you get if you manage to complete the hunt. Buildings, furniture, clothing, Mesh and non-mesh, jewellery, bodyparts and tattoos!

Stores include: Just Because, Lilith's Den, +REDRUM+, Distorted Dreams, CoLLisions, Never Totally Dead, Carrie's Lingerie, Boudoir, Mad', Mesh Depot, Patron, The Cube - Art Gallery, Death Row Designs, Image Essentials and of course MadPeas!

Come Back To Me - The Enchanted Frost Hunt

Hrotswytha Frostgarth looked through the window and shivered. She was indeed an ice witch, but the blizzard ruthlessly raging in the outside world was too much even for her... and she was also deeply worried. Her beloved pet was outside, somewhere in the snow, trying to find his way home. Oh, Hrymwyr was so bold and stubborn, and enjoyed wandering alone in the wilderness so much! Now he was in trouble... because even the stamina of the boldest and most stubborn stag is eventually consumed by the wind, the frost and the ice.
Frost Witch Not far away, Hrymwyr was to lie down in the snow... the deadly snow, which was so inviting and soft, it beckoned him and whispered, it offered him a cosy feather bed. Yet, in the last second, he pricked his ears and stood still. Hrotswytha was near, he suddenly realised, and she was reaching out for him. Hrymwyr started walking, and at a faster pace. His task was simple now. He must return home. Hrotswytha was waiting.
The Stag
A borrowed PC and some very limited time in SL... what could I do? With much luck and friendly help I rushed through The Enchanted Frost Hunt by MadPea and boy, was it worth it! You must buy a HUD for 10 L$ at the starting point, but it’s really a symbolic sum if you look at what you receive in exchange. The gifts are simply amazing and I’m truly sorry I can show you only a very few items here! Just to tickle your curiosity a bit more: do you remember Ceri the friendly giantess who was a regular at The Tides during the 2012 Fantasy Faire? Well, you can become just like her, because you find a complete set of Colossus avatars, outfit included, among the endgame gifts. The hunt is on until December 22nd, so you'd better run... errmmm... slide or skate for your HUD!
