Bloody grief

In her grief she wore white. Some traditions you never could get away from, especially those with roots buried deep in the heart that no longer beat inside her chest. Seven years. Seven years had passed. From the elusive stranger hanging upside down in a bus station, to friend, to sister. Bonds stronger than familial ties wove them together. Through love, madness, loss and more; this connection endured. The ever changing constant. Dawning realisation scythed through the thick fog of the former empath's mind. The Gordian knot cut by death. Grief flowed through her veins, turning red eyes and black hair to white. In the night the candles burned, and blood rained down...

Jack or Jill

It had been a long day. It had been a long hard day. It had been a long, hard productive day. They had trawled through almost a hundred stores, searching for just the right items, catching up each like a prize. feet were aching, eyes were sore, night had fallen, and morning sun now licked the edges of the windows. Hunting for bargains was only ever the start, once you found everything you were looking for, you had to haul the loot home, open it up, and try it all on.

New clothes, accessories, a whole new look - theirs just for the taking.

For the uninitiated - Depraved Events each year host Jack or Jill - a gridwide hunt of two paths, male and female, each with around 50 stores to search for a prize. Prize items range from shoes to skins - and everything in between - especially in this round - socks! There will be more posts from me detailing some of the prizes from this years hunt; for now, here's the details.

 Slink Female Feet (AvEnhance). These MESH beauties boggled my mind at first - as I tend not to read instructions - just get all stuck in, and end up with no legs, then grey legs, then no legs again - but WOWZA. Once I got things sorted out - these have totally taken over from my other Slink feet which are all now a few years old. The look is great - the HUDS are intuitive, and it was easy to colour match. Appliers are being made by an ever increasing number of skin designers - and now clothing specialists are getting in on the action. The Stockings shown above from C h a r y are a look I really love - half on - half on the foot, giving a realism so rare until now in SL!  The feet are available on Markeplace - or at the Slink mainstore for L$675.

Glow

They had called her so she was on her way. It would take her about an hour to get from the lower levels up to those where the rich and wealthy now and then had the chance to see sunlight. Real sunlight not the false light which projectors emitted. If she had wanted it she could have a flat our even a loft up there. There had been many offers in that direction but after having promised to ponder about the proposal she always had a very understandable reason to refuse the offer.
Some shivered when she passed them. They remembered stories of their grandparents and parents about somebody like her and wondered if she was the same person and why she hadn't aged since then. But the situation was fragile and she was known for her knowledge or more her abilities. The best medium of the time - able to predict the future and even more important she knew how to change it. Sometimes she wondered if they would have hired her if they would have known that she was the last AI which had not been destroyed after the war. But she always moved that process of thought out of her main core. The parts she needed to preserve herself were expensive and if anybody wanted a nice future there was no reason why they should not pay her.

Although most of the stores which take part in the final fantasy faire do not really seem to have made items which fit to the topic (there is even a sex motorbike available for those who like it faster) - there are some items there which are pretty. For example the Titania scarf from May's Soul. The scarf is made of unrigged mesh and looks like being made of fur with some feathers as decoration. It is pretty and a good accessory to the dress Junbug made for the current round of we <3 Rp. The dress is simple and - while mesh might (in dependence of the used ao) not be the best to make a long skirt look realistic - because of the lack of decorations very elegant. It would suit as well as wedding dress as in the other available colours for ballroom dancing or roleplay. The dress is available in the standard sizes.
The choosen blindfold comes from 22769. As the scarf it is made of unrigged mesh and can be edited. The blindfold is sold in several colours.
The Erika hair from Wasabi Pills is very variable in the way it can be used. It fits to soften an elegant business look as well as to a romantic dress as in this case.
The Cataclysm tattoo from Fallen Gods can be tinted and used to create unicolour looks.
The poses used come all from Ma Vie. They suit very well to take pictures of long dresses and to create an elegant look with a strong expression.

Underground : Men Only Gacha 2

The underground was the crossroads of the modern world. Thousands upon thousands of people streamed through doors and turnstiles here each day, and each night. From train to train, small gaps, down here it was never silent, never fully still. Always the hum of the rails, the skittering of rodents and other animals... Winter or Summer, the only changes down here were the temperature, the posters on the walls and the graffiti which covered them. Tag over tag, spraypaint colours marked the seasons. Cold bit hard, heat sweltered; all those moving through the stations felt the effects. Wrapped up in layers just to peel them away. A person could bump into anyone down here, packed in tight, strangers as close as lovers. For most, uncomfortable in the dark, cooped up with so many others, the station was an extension of the subway train itself, merely a space to travel through, to get from A to B. A rare few paused, taking their time, unlike others with solely nefarious motives. Pickpockets aside, there were some who watched people, just as readily as those high above, seated in sidewalk cafes. Human nature on display. And always... always, the footsteps.

Flair For Events presents: Men Only Gacha 2 (MOG2).

Men Only Gacha (MOG) features over 50 designers of male items - many designers with multiple gachas at the show, which runs from Feb 1st to 15th 2014.

Good male items seem hard to find - and as I'm only ever really buying them as gifts, or for the boy blog alt, I tend to stick to the few stores I know who do what they do exceptionally well. A gacha event however, much like a hunt, gives easy access to a range of designers who's stores I would not otherwise have stumbled into. Gachas of course tend to offer items at a reasonable price, meaning even if what you get is not to your taste - no biggie. It does happen of course - that's the gamble of the gacha. Here, for example, I got a great shape / skin combo from Mr Bloch. I also gambled on another shape gacha, and received a shape that just isn't a style I would use. Being a gacha item, it's no mod - but also no problem - as I won't use it, it's still transferable, so can be given away to someone who might.

Wolfmoon

They were walking for days. At the beginning of their march she had still had boots but her feet started to hurt and at the third day they were so swollen that she had to take off her boots. She carried them for some more days but when they reached the mountains the skin on her soles was so thick that she did not need them anymore and they also hindered her. She exchanged them for some fruits for herself and some raw meat for Herra. The wolf had guided her the whole way. When they reached the forest she enjoyed the scent of the flowers and the leaves. Secretly she wished to stay but that would be the desicion of the wolf.
The Ugly and the Beautiful have some awesome items which look like being inspired by several animes. The Cerberus Cloak is made of unrigged mesh which allows to edit it. This has been done to take the pictures. For example the hood has been moved a bit to the side and the parts on the shoulders have been moved forward to make sure that the mesh top does not cut into them. All in all they look great and are awesome for pictures but behave like sculpted items. There is unfortunately no demo available in the store.  The mesh top comes from 22769 and is very well made. In the choosen colours it can be used for fantasy outfits as well as in more elegant combinations. The set includes the top in the standard sizes there is a demo available in the store so it is possible to test how they fit. The skirt comes from *COCO* and is made of mesh.
All poses are made by Captivity Co. The wolf comes with several poses which can be adjusted and is currently available and testable at Enchantment.

Caretakers

The wind made slight sounds while blowing through the leaves. But there was an other sound, the soft sound of creaking old moss covered twigs. For a moment the sound stopped and a woodden hand reached out to pick up a leaf which had fallen into the water. The leaf was turned to the side and bathed in bright white light for a moment then it started to age quickly until only crumbs of soil rested on the bark. The sound of the slow steps started again. They moved over to a tree then the being started to collect seeds.
After a while it seemed to be satisfied with the loot and went on. It bent over and started to poke one of it's long fingers into the ground until the digged hole was big enough for one of the seeds. Apparently it was searching for a fitting spot to plant the just obtained seeds. With every seed it planted it seemed to move slower and also the light in the middle of it's body seemed to glow less bright. Until it completely stopped to move. For some moments it stood completely still then suddenly there was a movements. The toes grew until they started to root in the ground. The light inside the being started to glow again and life returned to it. Until it started to continue it's path through the forest taking care of the trees.
The Tinderlings from Cerridwen's Cauldron remind on golems made of wood, eventually driven by the sigil on their forhead. They are complete mesh avatars with the posibility to adjust some of their features, for example the colour of the sigil, their eyes and also of the light in their inside. They are materials ready and it is possible to choose between several kinds of textures for the eyes. The hud which is being used to make those changes also allows to form the hands to fists and to decide if the included particle effects should be used or not. The sounds of the Tinderlings is an other speciality of those avatars. When moving they sound like twigs hitting on each other in the wind and when chatting there is the sound of wind blowing through the forest. The Tinderlings will be available in three different versions: Forest Tinderlings, Mushroom Tinderlings, and Boreal Tinderlings . Each of those is available in the size of an average avatar and a tiny.

Small town escape

Life in the small town was repetitive... Day in, day out, hours rolled by, but it all seemed to stay the same. First there had been school, days segmented into classes, recess giving time to run around and play before being corralled back inside, more learning then lunch, more of the same, over and over. High school followed, less running around, more learning, more time under the teacher's eye, all of it had led to this.

All summer following graduation Ana worked at the gas station. The job had been hers for years, evenings after school, and weekends, times when traffic flowed, to work, to school, to the mountains or the drive-in. Now the days dragged. While everyone else in town was at work, or off having fun, she waited, watching vapour trails of new jet liners criss-crossing the sky.

When she wasn't waiting by the pumps, there was always other work for Ana to do in the garage. In the small town, small minds were secure in their mid century beliefs. Womens work was cleaning, and so she cleaned. She was about as satisfied with this as she was waiting by the pumps in the heat of the day. Who needed a clean garage anyway? Greasers coming inside to talk engines would use the main garage entrance, housewives and their husbands passed neatly folded bills through rolled down windows, never leaving their cars. The office was a place to pass time, doing as she was told.

Out back, behind the garage, hidden among rusty junkers under a dirty tarp was her way out of the small town. At night, after Fat Pete locked up, tried and failed to pinch her behind and stumbled off home to his wife Ana would sneak back inside. No lights but her headlamp, she'd gather the tools and head out to the Chevvy she was bringing back to life. Some night soon, she would be free, out of here to places where horizons and opportunities were broader than traditions. It wouldn't be long now. Until then she would work, she would wait.
