Small town escape

Life in the small town was repetitive... Day in, day out, hours rolled by, but it all seemed to stay the same. First there had been school, days segmented into classes, recess giving time to run around and play before being corralled back inside, more learning then lunch, more of the same, over and over. High school followed, less running around, more learning, more time under the teacher's eye, all of it had led to this.

All summer following graduation Ana worked at the gas station. The job had been hers for years, evenings after school, and weekends, times when traffic flowed, to work, to school, to the mountains or the drive-in. Now the days dragged. While everyone else in town was at work, or off having fun, she waited, watching vapour trails of new jet liners criss-crossing the sky.

When she wasn't waiting by the pumps, there was always other work for Ana to do in the garage. In the small town, small minds were secure in their mid century beliefs. Womens work was cleaning, and so she cleaned. She was about as satisfied with this as she was waiting by the pumps in the heat of the day. Who needed a clean garage anyway? Greasers coming inside to talk engines would use the main garage entrance, housewives and their husbands passed neatly folded bills through rolled down windows, never leaving their cars. The office was a place to pass time, doing as she was told.

Out back, behind the garage, hidden among rusty junkers under a dirty tarp was her way out of the small town. At night, after Fat Pete locked up, tried and failed to pinch her behind and stumbled off home to his wife Ana would sneak back inside. No lights but her headlamp, she'd gather the tools and head out to the Chevvy she was bringing back to life. Some night soon, she would be free, out of here to places where horizons and opportunities were broader than traditions. It wouldn't be long now. Until then she would work, she would wait.

Down at the Sea Hole

Decades could pass without there being a night to rival this one. Years had infact, since these two, in one form or another, had been together last. In the world as is was now - such things could happen. One had remained in the city most nights, causing trouble and looking after her cat. The other, well, it was her story to tell, and it would unfold through time. One thing had not changed though the intervening years, despite deaths, possessions, insanity and a desire to shop.

That night, it had been all about the 1950s. An amusing remembrance for one, perhaps a first time thrill for the other as she pulled on the ruffled silk and net layers of the full flared skirt. Hair high, heels higher, and with Spot for company, they would find a dive somewhere in town with a swinging beat, and dance till dawn.

Oh, as much as I loved shopping for this - I am more saddened at the impending closure of the store the beautiful items came from. The Sea Hole est. 2008 will be closing at the end of May 2013. Over the years creator Drinkinstein Sorbet - who also has one of the best names I've seen in SL - has created really really beautiful clothes. The colour palate is one of muted elegance, with an occasional sidestep into summer brights. Classic tailoring and style are the norm - with a crazy sprinkling of haute couture madness thrown in - check out the Octo-dress. I can't claim any knowledge of the reasons behind the closure, but can only wish Drinkinstein the best - and as is my usual selfish way - keep my fingers crossed for a return someday.

Until then - you have until the end of May to get to The Sea Hole and pick up some bargains as items have been reduced to L$ 50 each. Here, Cadence and I are wearing the Lorette Mesh skirts from the Gatcha - L$125. Cadence is in Crimson, and I'm wearing it in Enchanted Pool.

Candy Coated Dream

It had been a long time coming, this new world. A lot of work had been put into it, making it as realistic as a dream could be. It was a dream after all, the imagination of a mind too large on a world to small for its desires. Each grain of sand had been selected, cleaned, sanitized and shipped. The water, purified and filtered, irradiated and shipped up in tankers larger than those still slugging across the tainted seas below. The air itself a concoction of stripped and polished atoms, recombined in its new concentration, the additional oxygen making the eyes shine in the faces of each occupant in this haven.

It wouldn't work of course. She knew this, just as all the scientists did, had they had the opportunity, or bravery to look into their hearts and speak out. No life could exist, or thrive in such conditions. This bubble of a world they had created would die off, it was too perfect, no dirt, no disease, no unengineered life, nothing for anything to feed from that was natural, it could not last. The plans to ship the wealthy off the planet they had ruined would come to nothing. "Fair enough" many who knew had said. "Let them die up there". This she couldn't allow. Taking that which was good from the world, only to have it die along with the autocrats was not a fate that should come to pass. It had to be stopped.

 

Having pooled all their money, and fabricating an account to show they had what they did not, now the planet had this one shot. Scrubbed and cleaned, tested and scanned, she passed their tests. Now in the bubble, this pastiche of paradise, it was time to unleash life, to save it. This candy coated dream was about to show its real strengths were under the surface. Stepping into the stream of warm water, her makeup, so cunningly prepared and applied began to smear. carried across the ground in the water, and up into the air in the steam was the pollen, the dormant bacteria, the minute seeds, having shown only as flecks of glitter on her face were now germinating, reaching out across the refined atmosphere. She was the fuse. It would be the candy coating that would ruin this dream for those who dreamed it, and made it a reality for all those it had excluded and damned.

Psycho Circus

The Psycho Circus is in town!

Come see the Man who ate his own Foot, the Bearded Lady, and of course... the highlight of our show, you've heard about em, you've read about them, now you can see them in the flesh, and tremble under their gaze... it's The Three!

The small town folk may well have heard about them, notorious as they are. They had made headlines, evaded convictions, escaped the gallows.. and ended up here.

Alyssa, the eldest of The Three, had charm and grace. Her skills lay in flexibility of body and mind, she ensnared the weak with a glance, and bent the most steadfast to her will with a smile. Accused, and found miraculously innocent of several high value confidence tricks, none of the millions that had been 'lost' had ever been found. Rumour has it that she keeps the keys to several safety deposit boxes tucked inside her boots. Don't step too close as you watch her bend and flex before you on the balance balls, that glint in her eye will do you no good...

Bella, the second of The Three, stalked the shadows at the edges of the day, and came into her own as night fell. Her skills lay in dexterity and stealth, she could pick a pocket, and lift your wristwatch with ease. In the darkest of nights, it was rumoured that she could blend into any crowd unseen. When her luck did not hold, and the cold metal of handcuffs graced her delicate wrists, as with her elder sister, she evaded the noose by means fair or foul. Come a little closer, watch her spin on the hanging hoop, but mind your valuables are still with you if you leave...

Celeste, the youngest of The Three, had the air of innocence and sweetness. Her skills lay in beguiling and insinuating herself into the psyche of her victims. She could break your heart with a single tear, and wrench it out just as easily with cruel fingers. The bloodiest of The Three, her freedom may surprise you, warrants and dark suited agents follow in her wake, each trying, unsuccessfully thus far, to connect her to her crimes. Enjoy her skills as she twists and balances on the chair, should you see her again, beware...

This is the [Virtual Props] Psycho Circus Photography Prop; it costs L$900, and the permissions are COPY, MOD, NO TRANS.. There is no notecard associated with this product, just rez and pose! On another note, it's my favourite sim to TP people to, something about sending a TP with the message "Join me in Endless Death" just makes me smile.

Tweed

Loving the tweed this season thank you very much! and so the new release outfit from Vero Modero was a huge hit with me! detail on the fabric is superb too although not clearly shown in my pic as i've added a bit of opaque and sepia to give it a little vintage feel.

I happened to stumble across this cute little hair & skin store which is new to me and going to be a firm favourite too I reckon! there aren't many hair styles to choose from at the moment, but what there is I love and for only 100L for the hair I certainly can't complain. Oh p.s Fashionably dead has a half price hair sale too if you're a hair junkie like me.... woot!

Ready for a day at the beach?

As the post title asks, are you ready for a day at the beach? oh yes I am! got my drinks, snacks and book, what more can I ask for? don't say sun because it never rains at the beach in SL yahoooo! well haven't I gone and got some great stuff for you again! so what if the shirt from 22769 is at the locker room a place for great deals on mens clothing  - do It bother me? not a bit as it fits me like a glove thank you very much! ( available for 2 weeks so scoot quick!) , the outfit comes with some great cargo pants too not worn here. A fine romance? [3]

He had attended the exhibition, and tried to find an opportunity to introduce himself to her. Not because he was desperate to meet her, of course he was curious about her, but more than anything he wanted her to know who he was, he wanted her to notice. Unfortunately no such occasion had presented itself, as Auguste Chevallier a local cafe owner seemed to be taking her attention all evening!

 He was not so fond of Auguste, and not because he was considered competition in the world of gastronomy! absolutely not! it was more about his overt superiority complex that did not bode well.

That was the last time he had seen her for over a week. He had got quite used to her daily visits to his Restaurant, and had felt surprisingly uplifted by her presence, of course he hadn't realised this until she was no longer there. He casually dropped it in conversation to Marthe that he hadn't had any odd requests for hibiscus tea for a few days. Naturally Marthe picked up this as only the one customer had ever asked for such a thing  " that is one request that Auguste Chevallier will be getting these days as he has commissioned her to do a painting" Marthe replied........ that was when he decided he needed a little fresh air.
