Back in Peatonville

1
Things in the asylum had been rocky for a while.
Between the break-ins, the breakouts, the funding cuts and scandals, some nights you'd struggle to fit a cigarette paper between the psyches of staff and inmates. They had come up with plans of course, processes to differentiate the groups. It should have been so easy. It wasn't.
There were conscientious staff here once. They did their best, within the limited knowledge and understanding of their time to ease the suffering of those in their care. Decades, and centuries past as it was. Peatonville had closed, reopened as a sanatorium, a tuberculosis centre, a retreat for 'overworked' wives... even those times were gone. Shut up behind mouldering boards it became an oubliette, the end of the road for cases kept quiet by the media, for those too dangerous and corruptive to be allowed near 'ordinary' criminals. What staff there were couldn't be trusted.

3
They couldn't be trusted with anything, least of all keeping themselves safe. All the plans put in place by  shadowy figures in wood panelled offices far away fell to pieces in the face of reality... the reality of Peatonville was that reality was fluid, no fixed thing, impossible to control by logical thought. The tattoos identifying each employee were worked under the skin of inmates beneath the flickering light of ageing incandescents, dripping with rust all the while. Uniforms fell with their wearers, to be picked up by bloodsmeared hands...

Peatonville Asylum launched on the 8th October
This is the return of one of Madpeas' most successful games to date, updated and reduxed for 2015!

This is a hud based grid-wide adventure game. To play, you buy a HUD - Bronze, Silver and Gold levels available - and are then required to visit 25 vendor locations to complete the quest. Silver and Gold level players are rewarded with prizes when completing the game. Much more to come from this!

The Day I Lost My Home

"The rockets set the bony meadows afire, turned rock to lava, turned wood to charcoal, transmitted water to steam, made sand and silica into green glass which lay like shattered mirrors reflecting the invasion, all about. ...And from the rockets ran men with hammers in their hands to beat the strange world into a shape that was familiar to the eye, to bludgeon away all the strangeness..."
(Ray Bradbury: The Martian Chronicles, The Locusts)

The Day I Lost My Home

The current round of "A Tattered Page" is dedicated to Ray Bradbury and his masterpiece collection of short stories, The Martian Chronicles. I was a teenager when I first borrowed the book from our local library... and I've been re-reading the melancholic and deep stories again and again, ever since that day... and rather often I am not at all proud that I belong to the barbaric human race.

Skin: "Mrs K" by Fallen Gods Inc. - 990 L$; the package contains the skin, a shape, a pair of yellow coin eyes, and many appliers.
Hair: "Windsong" in Russet by Exile - 88 L$ for a colour pack of 10 shades, available at the current round of Collabor88.
Tiara: "Helios Head Piece" by 22769 - this magnificent tiara was a gift from Paco Pooley and Manuel Ormidale for the Sunshine Hunt, organized to celebrate the 7th anniversary of Fallen Gods Inc. inworld. It may not be available any more, but if you want to find some other top quality accessories, outfits and also furniture, a trip to 22769 is a must!
Outfit and jewellery: "Pohjola" by Tekeli-li - the top (160 L$), the bottom (160 L$), a full jewellery set (310 L$) and other accessories are available on the Marketplace.

The picture was taken at LEA10, where Whiskey Monday is currently building her ever-changing project, aptly called "Nothing Endures But Change". Very gently she also left a pose stand there, crammed with many gracious poses by Flowey; I took the occasion and picked "All I need" for my snapshot.

The First Ball Of The Year

The winter holidays were over. The gift boxes were all opened, the beautifully decorated Christmas tree started to wilt slowly, almost invisibly… the first fragrant needles were already scattered around in the room. Yet, Melusina didn’t feel sad or exhausted or sorry. She was preparing for the first ball of the new year. The snow was white and fresh in the garden, and the new silk dress felt similarly cool and crispy under her gentle fingers.
The First Ball Yes, the old year had ended, but a new year just began, and Melusina was looking forward to whatever she would encounter during the forthcoming months. She put on her new necklace, a lovely surprise from her family, then she touched her nose tip with a powder puff, and cast a big happy smile at her reflection in the mirror. Yes, beginnings were always exciting and wonderful, Melusina thought... and she swept out of the room, the first tunes of the very first waltz already ringing in her ears.
A Lovely New Year

A Happy New Year and happy beginnings to you all, too, dear readers and followers! :)

Hair Fair 2012

It's that time again! New coverings available to keep the cold away from your second life skull. It's the Hair Fair! That's 4 sims full of new hairstyles, and a good deal of bandanas! Creators donate a portion of sales from their items to Wigs for Kids. There are also many generous gifts set out, not just hair, some outfits too, but as these don't generate any monehs for the charity, please buy as well as picking up the goodies! The sims tend to be pretty full, so it can take a while (2 and bit days for me) trying to get in. So worth it. Here's a selection of some of my favourite finds. Sadly not all, there's another hair I bought that I love, yet there are some issues with the mesh, and segments of the hair, which are there when grey inbetween the colour changes on the included HUD but vanish once the colour all rezzes. I'm waiting on a response from the vendor, but if any of our lovely readers here have any ideas - please scrawl away in the comments section, it's much appreciated!. Anyway. On with the hair!

Clawtooth Cosmic Love Dusty Black Hair Fair Gift

Clawtooth: Cosmic Love - Dusty Black (Hair Fair Gift). This hair is not mesh, it has a nice flow, not too 'done' as a hairstyle, which gives it a realistic feel. The colour is pretty too, not a harsh or too solid black at all.

colors free d non mesh gift light pink

[COLORS] Free D LightPink  Also a free gift, also not mesh. This is a very pretty, yet edgy style, and the creator has generously included 12 colours in the gift, each with a normal version, and one with a resize script.
exile feathers_005

::Exile:: Silent Wings: Blacks L$250 with 20% to Wigs for Kids. This is a beautifully designed mesh hair. While I rarely use a mesh enabled viewer for my general non-pic taking SL, I could NOT pass up buying this. The hair falls gracefully, and the feathers are stunning. The Blacks colour pack includes five colours, here I'm wearing 'Raven'. Alpha layers are included for hiding any pesky bits of skin, and the feathers are separate mesh, so the hair can be worn without them.

heartless eva dark purple not mesh_003

Heartless: Eva Hair (Midnight Collection) L$ 180  15% to Wigs for Kids. Another non-mesh hair - so glad to see that beautiful styles are still being made! Pack contains six colours, here I'm wearing the Dark Purple. The style reminds me of some old favourites I lost years ago. Very glad to have something similar again!

The skin worn here in these pictures is : S u g a r : StarChild [sugar] - red brow - L$799. As ever, available at the store in different shades and lots of lovely add-ons, cleavage and makeup- new location again - http://slurl.com/secondlife/The%20Slums/153/74/70

Culture Shock

Life in the mall was always hectic, not that bright, shiny, piped in music and crowds of happy people clutching plastic sacks of purchases way of malls from the time before. The malls now were the walkways of the sky, only marginally safer than the rubbish strewn streets far below. Even walking through the better zones you were just as likely to get caught in the crossfire of a laser fight between mall militia and gang members as you were to spot a bargain deal in the high priced stores. Illya had had enough for one night. She worked in one of the darker clubs in the sanctioned bar zone, the kind frequented by the rich kids looking for a thrill, one where their richer parents would hate to think of them being, but which held a much lower death rate than others in the lower levels of the mall. Heading away from the pounding headache of noise created by different genres of music all competing within the confined space she moved quickly towards the blue zone.

Culture shock 1

It was quieter here, the stores mostly winding down in the small hours of the morning, a few, not staffed 24 hours, were shuttered and dark. Smiling to herself as she passed by a couple getting hot and heavy in the shadows she walked on, not disturbing them, her boot heels clicking alternately on concrete and metal gratings, no fine marble down here. Pausing in front of a store window, she checked her reflection in the glass, as a blue light glowed, scanning her head to foot. With a soft hiss the glass panel slid back and to the side, allowing her to step on through. As she emerged again, hair teased high, the piercings replaced on her face. The skimpy work outfit discarded, she was now wrapped in black web, each thread woven with care, fine as silk, harder than steel. She was ready to greet the friends who awaited her, ready to start her own night out in the darkest depths the mall and the streets beyond had to offer.

Cultrue shock2

Culture Shock is back! The “Culture Shock” event in May 2012 (May 4th – May 26th) is a large and important event in Second Life fashion culture. Celebrating trends and trendsetters within our business, and incorporating music and art, all with reflections of our own personal first life cultures depicted in our creations. It is brought to you by CHIC Management (www.chic-management.com) and sponsored by Modavia Productions.

174 store are showcasing their products, including a minimum of 1 new and exclusive item each – contributing 50 – 100% of their profit to charity. While you are there - be sure to check out the amazing artworks decorating the walls on the ousides of many stores.

The charity chosen is Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) and is an independent humanitarian medical aid organisation. Committed to providing medical aid where it is most needed, regardless of race, religion, politics or gender and also to raising awareness of the plight of the people they help.

Open your mind and eyes and have a second look at this selection of the more-than-awesome ties from Schadenfreude for the Festival of Sin-event. A few of my favs from the Christmas XYROOM

Waaaaah!! way way too many things to blog so little time! so I'll cut the waffle (well as much as is possible for me!) and tell you the things I think you should know about these items. Let's start with the hair which is a current subscribo gift at Exile which also has another style in a black colour.

The biker jacket from Skifija has a colour changeable hud which literally has a million colours and modifiable options and makes for most adaptable item in your inventory (unless of course you have shoes from Skifija too which mostly also offer this hud).

The top has a prim collar which I can only describe as an amazing cleopatra style bib collar - would have loved to have worn it but it didn't look right with this jacket, plus I like the halter-neck look too so in effect you have two looks in one.

These gorgeous shoes remind me of being a small girl and clomping around in my socks with Mummies shoes on (much to her horror)  I love them!! and the socks have 18 changeable colour options. last but not least is the shape which is also an XYroom special and comes complete with a bikini and physics i.e bouncy boobies!

Blood and Machine Oil

The statue cried again. Esra was more than satisfied with her work. Some priests had asked her to help them with a statue which had been crying blood for several month and then suddenly stopped. They had tested the machine they had installed in the statue to cause the crying but what ever they did nothing helped. It was like the statue was not willing to participate any longer in a rip-off. So the priests called Esra who was specialized on making machines work again. She was one of the best vampire magicians and machines were her special intrest. Esra loved to figure out how machines worked and she liked drinking machine oil way better than drinking blood. But crying statues in churches were easy. Esra spend some hours on telling the statue some horrible and sad stories and it started to cry again.
EsraLinkFor taking some pictures for the 22769 Sanguine Noir Adventure I put together an avatar which hopefully looks like a crazy vampirish tinkerer. Ezura has great dark dresses so I choosed the black Lolita Crown dress as base. It comes with several skirts and includes the option to wear it as lingerie. Ezura also sells fitting shoes. The systempart of the gloves belongs also to the dress from Ezura but the glovetops with the bow belong to the black kidskin gloves from Indyra Originals. The hair comes from Exile. It was a bit tricky to adjust it as it is very wild and does not include resizescripts (it also did not work to put resizescripts into it). But with some help from friends it finally worked. The monocle comes from Super Possessed. The set includes a version for the left and the right eye. It has many details and is a great accessory. The hat was a huntgift in the first steampunk hunt.

Hair: Exile Zoe - blacks (250 L$ fatpack 1000L$)

Disco Inferno!

With the Disco hunt well underway what better opportunity than now to be a bit of a disco diva and shake your stuff on the dance floor!  The hunt kicked off on the 15th September and runs for a month -  Slurls and hints can be found HERE.

This hunt has a 70's based disco theme and there are an assortment of items including a dance floor, poses, furniture, jewelry & many 'groovy' (ahem sorry) outfits for men & women. The hunt object to look for is a disco ball. See below for a sample of my favs.

Some things that should not be missed!

sat

I have so many things that I want to blog about right now so i'll start with a few that simply should not be missed! This skin which is high on the list of my favourites the current group gift at Al Vulo. The eyes come in a set of four and all of them simply stunning and are a special edition so grab them quick!

Silver jeans!! simply gorgeous & funky & on the luckyboard at Awram Viie - go grab! I love all things stigma and so when I saw that the store was participating in the American Bazaar birthday hunt I had to go get them, they're actually much much nicer than my picture portrays.

New hair at Exile - the hairs there just get better and better! The shoes and bag are a gift at Mischief and last but not least the top which has the most wonderful pattern and feminine frilly underlayer is a hunt item at Nudolu for the your inner bunny. The bunting in the background is also from Nudolu hunt for 15L.

Vacations

Kernin enjoyed the time at the beach. Normaly he managed to go once or twice a year on holidays. It was great in his opinion. He spend his time with relaxing on the dock. Sometimes he fished or used the boat to mow over to the riff where he collected shells.
Urban Elf
His holidays were the only time in the year in which he was able to wear jeans and shirts. It was the only time in which he was able to wear modern clothing at all. He loved it. It was so different and definitly worth traveling for a long time.
Causual elf
But as one of the seven elven kings he needed to be sure that nobody would see him while he wore clothing which had been created by humans for humans. Kernin sometimes wished that he would be able to stay away from it. Once his brother had caught him in jeans. Luckily Keron wasn't intrested in being king himself else he would have abused the knowledge about his brothers love to human clothes. Instead he helped Kernin to travel through the planes to the only place where he could wear what he loved.
Male Elf Free
At the 25th July was the birthday of the owner of the Plastik and she made an awesome gift to her group. A bag filled with skins, outfits and more. This blue skin is one of those. The bag contains items for both genders and is still available in the old groupnotices of the Plastik Group. You only need to open them and to save the attachment. The tattoo is an other gift from this group. The green eyes are currently a freebie at poetic colours. And the hair is also a freebie. It comes from Exile and is normaly for women but looks also great on guys. The clothing comes mainly from 22769. They have nice items for mens which are easy to combine. The prim parts are mod and come when they have been created by using more than one prim wit a resizescript. I like the black silk shirt very much which is causual and elegant at the same time. The baggy shorts could be combined easily with any t-shirt. The espandrillos are brand new and available in many colours.

Outfits:
Top: 22769 red cross tank
Trousers: 22769 baggy shorts camouflage (120 L$)
Shoes: ::Duh!:: Men's Sneaker Boots - Black Out (20 L$)

For a shoeless day on the beach

I had a lovely pair of shoes to blog about but would they rez?! grrr no! so I decided to kick them off and go shoeless on the beach.

If you want to grab this look for yourself then I suggest you head to the hair fair before it's closure on the 15th July.

I do so love hair & avoided the hair fair like the plague which was a killer for me but my lag issues would have just sent me over the edge even as a bald naked thing...oh but am I glad I went! and I'm glad I waited.

Well there's some really wacky designs but what an opportunity to go wild! I however decided to stick with some of the more conservative styles - this time anyway :) and here is my favourite freebie one from a store that I'm already familiar with but I also managed to acquaint myself with some wonderful new stores that I never knew existed! all for a great cause too.

Bodysuited & booted

Street

I can't stop wearing this hair! it's amazing and check out this bodysuit which is the latest group gift at MONS which I loved as soon as I saw it, very sexy , very sassy and very adaptable too. You can wear it in so many ways with a skirt , jeans or on it's own but what I love most about it is that William Morris kind of pattern. It's an amazing print and cleverly used, it's such a bold print that you couldn't get away with using it on a full outfit, but as a well made bodysuit with that lace! genius, I really love it!

Well a bold outfit such as this deserves a bold skin. This skin is actually part of a builders pack available on the marketplace currently with 50% so if you're thinking of making skins or starting your own business I reckon take a look there are over 100 items in this pack.

To complete my look all I needed were some fabby boots and I'm never disappointed when I head down to skifija! The footwear always fits my feet so well! I'm sure you've all had a pair of boots where the foot just doesn't look like a proper foot (Dagmar knows what I mean we've had a boot debate hehe) well anyway you'll never have that problem at Skifija :))

Hair: 0L group gift > Exile

Boots: 199L sexy biker high heel boots > Skifija

Peaches & cream

Cream-dress

I have so much fabulousness to share at the moment (yes yes I am aware that fabulousness is not a word be it should be). I am loving this new release outfit from Vero modero, which also comes in black, but I rather like the cream one.It has a lovely plunge neckline as you can see but what you can't see is that it is backless very sexy!

Oh and check out the hair! a new group gift from Exile..oh I do love some lovely flowing locks I do! and yet another great skin from Mother Goose's with juicy peachy lips, a colour that isn't so wdiely used I don't seem to think but is the perfect compliment to this whole look I'm sure you'll agree.

[switching to ginger... and boobs]

Ever since my fellow blogger Dagmar introduced the "Switch your gender for 0 Linden"-challenge, I have been snooping around for nice looking items to create a female avatar, and here she is: Darla, the ginger-haired summer fairy - or at least that is what she reminded me of, even without wings.

[gingerfairy]

The skin was easily found and is a prize of one of the 28 (!) Lucky Boards at Mother Goose's. Most of the skins you can win there are female, but the owner, Milok Hermit, always makes sure to have some male items around as well. Since I hardly ever like the pre-made shapes floating around on the grid, I made one on my own to match the skin, and you can scoop it up in the Eclectic Equations group for free. ::Umedama Holic:: was the provider of Darla's eyes; they have a really stunning, realistic look and seem to be a permanent freebie in store. Hairwise, Exile is the place to go to collect a wide variety of female (and male) styles for free, and they all come in fatpacks, too!

[gingerfairy]

At *ICING* I discovered this pretty, summery dress for 0 L$, and there are two additional garments, shoes, and a couple of other freebies to be found in their "freebie wardrobe" in store. Joining the Maitreya subscribo will bless you with a fatpack of the lovely pumps Darla is wearing, and last, but not least, the marketplace helped me with the accessoires: the light-pink nailpolish is a gift from BabyPrincess, and the subtle looking pearl necklace an offer from Curious Kitties!

Hair: Exile - Ali (free fatpack in store)
Eyes: ::UH:: - GemStone eye G04 (free in store)

Zero

The switch your gender for 0 Linden challenge is really challenging. And Im happy that Fauna and me aren't the only ones who made a 0 Linden avatar of the other gender. Paco and Manuel from 22769 put a picture of their girl avatars in the flickrgroup. Corvus Szpiegel the owner of [Hate This] did the same. and Flash Unplugged, one of the bloggers at MD Style Watch created even several outfits for his alterego Flashette. Silverr Andel, owner of Sterling Artistry and blogger for SLdiscovery turned the girl next door into a princess. Maitresse Couturier created a boxer for 0 Linden and blogged him. Khan Omizu put a girl with a hat on flickr. And Aili Panthar created a free male na'vi.
As my first attempt to create a male avatar failed at the eyes I used by mistake I decided to try it again. This time I wanted to put a softer looking guys avatar together and I wanted him to have shoes too. So I spent some time at mother goose to win a male skin on the lucky board. After that I decided to make a male shape myself. Luckily Paco and Manuel were willing to help me with the face because that was really tricky for me. I used the male woodelfshape from the library as start but I hope that the shape does not look very much like the woodelfshape anymore. The shape will be a gift in the Eclectic Equations group with full perms. Just join the group it will be in the notices. After that I got some of the free hair from exile and eyes from the Sterling Artistry camping chair. Exile has three free hairstyles for guys and some for women as well. They all look great and are mod. Sterling Artistry also has normaly two pairs of eyes as groupgift. After the base of the avatar was done it was time to get some clothes. Most tricky was to get shoes. Luckily I remembered that Ordinary gives out some sneakers as profilepick gift. The trousers from 7style are sold on the marketplace for 0 Linden.

The fisting shirt is a permanent freebie from a:s:s. It makes me laugh so I like it and the shading is great as well. To add some detail I got a wristlet from the ruru@pino camping chair. Kumaki glasses style have headphones on the luckyboard and cherries for the mouth. Actchio still have their gift from the goodshithunt in the store it contains a unisex tattoo. In my opinion the look is fine.

I decided to look around for some more free stuff for guys. Poison has two jeans as groupgift. 22769 has also a groupgift every month. This month its a Life guard outfit with even a pipe. A:S:S just put out new gifts for residents which are younger than 30days. The suit is also a groupgift it comes from G&T Creations . The trousers worn with the fisting t-shirt are a groupgift from sey as the ones next to them. The Sexsi one is also from a:s:s. The hair with the hoodie comes from colors. It was a bit surprising how tricky it was to get jeans but normaly some of them are always a huntgift somewhere. As I tried not to use huntgifts and freebie stores it was a bit difficult.

Happy RezDay Likka House!

So if you haven't checked out Likka yet, shame on you! You've got such great outfits just merely a hop skip and a jump away! With prices WORTH that jump! Its a rez day sale over there, and let me tell you, these outfits are hooooot! And quite snazzy too. I've taken the liberty to photo a few of the outfits awaiting you!

<span class=

<span class=
And here we have Dolothy, a nice little striped top with a long and very swishy skirt. Comes with a cute little choker and a broach to add that little dab of sophistication.

<span class=
Ahh Blanca, who can't help but look innocent and pure as the driven snow in this frock. Its topped with bell sleeves and lace in all the right places! And topped with a pair of wings found in the same store!

Patsy
Last but not least my favorite of the outfits I've shown. It might be the pink checkered top, or the adorable top hat, but this outfit has it all dark gothy feel with class.

All photos were taken with
Skin: Plush(Gothic 0-Classic) 50L - Sn@tch
Hair: Kalea in Wild card colors Blueberry, Blizzard and Candy. 250L for the pack from Exile
Shoes: Refined 175L from Favole
Shape: Personally tweaked for that personal touch.
Outfits: All outfits were 25L each, except the wings in Blanca which were 5L from Likka House

Shopping Spree!

Hi Folks! My name is Zorah and I'm new to writing on a blog. Pristine new, so I was really nervous about writing my first blog, and I've been flitting from store to store shopping, taking pictures and having a blast! Granted my linden account wants to do mean things to me right about now, but I feel confident enough to share some of my pictures with you! Funny how that works!

Another one of my favorite stores has this lovely gem FREE! It comes with the dress in Jacket/Shirt/Undershirt layers, and the bottom in pants and underpants! And to complete the look is my Baxies, which are one of my favorite accessories!

Had to repost, silly blogger!

[the creepy kids of innsmouth]

No one remembers when it all started, when the sun's light slowly began to fade and made room for a neverending night whose twinkling stars shimmered like fat, white maggots on a black shroud the city had been woven into. Some people wondered and asked question... and they started to disappear; first the curious ones, then the grown-ups, one after another, whilst their houses began to rot and their civilisation was in decline, while creatures with tentacles and foaming mouths rose from the swamp and otherworldly chants could be heard from the partially burned church. The only things that never changed were the sparkling stars above, the intense smell of salt water wavering through the forsaken streets and the city's kids piercing stares from within the shadows, lurking and patient, magic sigils on their skin and a ghostly light flaring in their empty eyes...

[the creepy kids of innsmouth]

It's the 16th week of Luna's blogger challenge - that makes four whole months! - and the shade this week is teal. While searching for a fitting inworld photo site, I once again ended up in one of my favourite sims, Innsmouth. This place keeps fascinating me with its Lovecraft-inspired, spooky atmosphere and provides a great background for roleplay or gloomy pictures - play around with windlight and water settings some - and don't forget to switch on sounds!
