Fantasy Faire 2017 - Addio Venexia

She knew that pleading for her husband was in vain, even dangerous. The Council of Ten was appointed to watch over the security of the Most Serene Republic, and they took their job seriously. Her husband might have been a Tiepolo, descendant of noblemen, but the Council could overthrow even a Doge, and they sent her husband to exile for treason. Marina Barbarigo de Morosini knew she would never walk with him in Piazza San Marco ever again... yet every evening, when the shadows descended upon the lion statues and the Campanile, she lit a lantern and walked to the seashore. Maybe her husband’s eyes could pierce the darkness and the mists, and see the light that Marina faithfully lit for him in the Venetian twilight.

This softly floating fitted mesh gown comes with a set of adjustable wings and an adjustable headpiece, not shown here.

Fantasy Faire 2017 - DragonFish

Dragons live in the sky. Mermaids live in the water. Everybody knew that in the Land of Infinite Magic... except for Chilrideoss The Brave, a majestic green dragon, and Muirgheal, a dreamy mermaid with the loveliest purple scales ever seen in the deep quiet waters of the Land of Infinite Magic.

One day Chilrideoss The Brave felt very thirsty (spitting fire for an entire day easily dries the throat of even the most heroic dragon, you know...) and he descended from the skies to the seashore. Dragons can drink saltwater; actually it is their preferred thirst quencher, as salt makes their skin thicker and shinier. Muirgheal was playing in the shallow water exactly at the time Chilrideoss arrived.

The rest is history in the Land of Infinite Magic. Love at first sight between two very different creatures with lovely scales, a secret wedding, and the birth of a little girl, majestically green and silkily purple, the proof that sometimes love indeed conquers all.

Fantasy Faire 2017 - The Well

The Well was always there. Its sweet cool water was the source of life, and no inhabitant in Faireville had ever questioned the fact... until Lothoellan Flowerfields arrived. Nobody knew where she came from: one day she just walked into the marketplace, greeted the shoppers and vendors with a smile, then moved into a dilapidated cottage at the end of the lane leading to the pastures.

“How deep is the Well, exactly?” – Lothoellan asked the bystanders one day, while she was weighing a juicy apple in her hand at a stall in the market. Nobody knew the answer. Nobody ever tried to measure how deep The Well was, or find out how the water from it tasted.

Lothoellan laughed when she found out how ignorant the inhabitants of Faireville were. She quickly walked to The Well, dropped a small bronze coin into it, and waited for the splashing sound that meant the coin reached the water... only that there was no “splash”, not after a minute, not after five minutes, not even after an hour.

For many years thereafter the inhabitants of Faireville took turns in bringing food to the ragged beggar woman who never left the brim of The Well and was standing there day and night, leaning towards the depth, listening and murmuring, “Now how deep is this well, exactly...?”.

Fantasy Faire 2017 - The Butterfly Wrangler

Other towns had rats and mice for vermin… the City of Purple Dawn had butterflies.

Each year, when the first buds started blossoming on the pink-and-blue Dreamcatcher Trees, the elderly and experienced inhabitants of the City of Purple Dawn pulled out their protective hats and veils from the wardrobe, because they knew the butterflies would swarm in very soon... and when the butterflies swarmed, they meant business.

When the situation became really desperate, and the inhabitants of the City of Purple Dawn could not leave their homes because there were butterflies everywhere, hanging from the trees, walking on the ground, fluttering in the air, the Council of the Wise knew it was time to call Her... Their saviour and benefactor, the Butterfly Wrangler.

There she came, a beautiful and calm woman, quietly humming a mysterious tone, a cage with a few captive butterflies in her hand. The sea of colourful insects parted before her; then their swirling dance slowly changed as they started following the Butterfly Wrangler, one lepidopteran after another, then dozens, then hundreds, then millions. 

The Butterfly Wrangler was leading them out of the City of Purple Dawn, her figure became small in the distance, surrounded by a dancing and vibrating cloud of colours... and the inhabitants of the City of Purple Dawn sighed, pulled out their brooms from the cupboard, and started cleaning up the streets after the invasion of the flying six-legged vermin.

Butterflies: part of an avatar created by Piedra Lubitsch for MetaBody II. As Meiló Minotaur and CapCat Ragu are currently rebuilding the MetaBody sim, I’m afraid the beautiful (and) free avatars are not available any more.

Hunger

The sound she made when she moved was slight but he could nearly feel her boredom and even more her hunger. But they had just arrived in the town and now they would need to wait until the furniture they had ordered would be brought into their house. The house was new as well. When it would be fully furnished there would be nothing in it which had ever been used by a human. It was difficult enough to have to deal with items which had been build by them. But with the time the marks left by humans would fade and the house would feel like it should and not give them the feeling of being surrounded by food. If they would have known what it means to be human they would have described the feeling like starving while being surrounded by the smell of wonderful food without being able to see or even eat it. Not that it was about smell. They were not vampires.
Still they lusted for humans. But now they had to wait he was not willing to leave the house before it was not completed. Which meant he would need to distract her but there was no reason why demons should not have fun as well.


The whole female outfit is built around a collar 22769 is selling in a gatcha at an event called L'accessories. It is a unrigged mesh item which can be addjusted and used as a eyecatcher. To balance the outfit it is needed to keep the rest of it rather calm, for example by just using a reduced amount of colours. The corset from Ison is very well made and the skirt from hucci is short enough to make sure that the boots, which hucci is selling at collabor 88, are seen as boots not as some kind of leggins. The Mia hair from Wasabi Pills creates a very dramatic look. It is made of rigged mesh. On both avatars horns from Cerridwen's Cauldron are used. They are available in a gatcha at their store. It is possible to choose the colour of the horn as well as the colour of the glow. Here both are white. The horns are made of unrigged mesh and it is possible to edit them to make them fit. On him the hair also comes from Wasabi Pills. It is the Teeloh hair which is inspired by the German singer Tilo Wolf. The hair is also available for females. To have a more interesting look at the shaved part a tattoo layer from Jomo has been added. They have several with different patterns. The eyes are mesh eyes from A:S:S Vision called Naga which look like reptile eyes and are great for roleplay. The skin comes from Nivaro. At the same store there are also additional tattoo layers with beards sold. The clothes are being sold at the mens dept and come from epia. The suit is made of rigged mesh and comes in one piece. There are three sizes included. The shoes are not rigged and have a resize script.
The big picture in the background is made by Spyralle and sold at Futurewave, an event which will end tomorrow. The Voronoi House from 22769's Furniture/House line Bauwerk can also be bought at future wave or directly on their sim. It is a low landimpact mesh house with beautifuly detailed windows and asymetrical windows. The stonegarden on the terrace is a pretty and unique add-on. The Beanbags are being sold by Apple Fall on the Collabor88 event. They include several poses. The kitchen which is seeable on the side on some pictures comes from Kuso.
The used poses come from Captivity Co., Ma Vie and Purple poses. Especially the suitcase poses are great for travel or moving themed pictures.

Owls have always been amongst my favourite animals, but ever since I joined Second Life, this love has most certainly intensified - and since I'm apparently not alone with my liking and people keep creating the cutest items around our feathery friends, I thought it's about time to make a little owl-post.

I know that Collabor88 is still packed most of the day, but if you get the chance to get in, do yourself a favour and buy this stunning necklace from Maxi Gossamer! As you can see, it's definitely unisex and comes in the 3 lengths: long, middle and short - but you can also choose between the metal options silver and gold. And like that wasn't a bunch of great features already, there's also the possibility to change the colour of the gems, either to uni-shades or preset colour combinations. Weeee! I won't take this off anytime soon!

Womenstuff...

From way back when in 2007, I've always liked to look for the best freebies or at least reasonably priced things I could find. From trawling 'yard sales' and freebie warehouses in ye olden days, to the wonder of having more group slots, and from there, more options to link to favourite stores, and their often generous owners gifts. Now, I have my favourite stores groups - sadly 42 slots still aint enough - and as previous posts have shown, I do love a hunt to get new things! A friend had been a member of the Menstuff group for a long while, doing their hunt, and getting things from their 'lounge' of gifts. I actually have pics of him ready for a different post, and after contemplating adding them in here, I won't, it can wait a few days. I digress. After seeing what he'd got, I was convinced to join the Womenstuff group, and see what I could get for myself.  The group is free to join, I was expecting a charge, but there is none. The Lounge of gifts is for group members only, and there are lots, I mean LOTS of gifts. If I remember rightly the grid of gift boxes is 13 x 13, and most slots contain a gift. Everything from hair, skin, shapes to clothes, shoes and jewelery.

Rather than bombard with a mass of items, today I'll focus on three skins, a shape, tattoo and shoes. Oh, and a pose. Still a bit of a mass I agree...

When looking at skins, there are a few places I focus on to see the quality, to decide if it's something I would want to wear. Face is a given of course, I also look for shading and muscletone on the body, and importantly, the quality of the nails. While I often wear prim nails, sometimes it's not possible, especially with the loss of multi attach points on some viewers. When I can't wear them, and I'm already wearing a glove layer and tattoo for other effects, I'd rather not have ugly white tips on the ends of my fingers. All these skins are really excellent for that, some of the best quality texture of nails I've seen actually, which is amazing considering they are free.

Praising his flesh, flawless and light like polished ivory, the keen curve of his blonde brows that reminded of the most precise elven bow, and his hair... straight, long tresses of silk spun under a pregnant moon's silvery light. His pink lips curled into a soft and affectionate smile as he placed one, slender hand on the other's chest, right above the heart, and the other over the subtly shimmering sun pendant that was dangling from his neck, held by a thin necklace of sumptuous gold - the gift he'd just received. Its reflections painted sparks of gold onto his immaculate skin and into the deep pools of his stunning, blue eyes when Amaryth leaned in and rubbed his cheek tenderly to the dark-haired's, his voice not more than an faint breath against a sensitive ear shell. "Amin harmuva onalle e' cormamin, melamin... I shall treasure your gift in my heart, my love."

The CHIC² Birthday Event is still running, and this time I'm introducing a piece of really breathtaking jewellery to you - the Lost Eden Sun Pendant from Maxi Gossamer Accessories. I'd often seen her stunning work at the Marketplace, but never dared to purchase it since I wasn't sure if it would fit a male neck as well, but this exquisite piece convinced me to have a try, and I wasn't disappointed. It's scripted to change size and - in this case - to swap between gold and silver textures, both of which are very detailed and a true feast for the eyes. Yep more brown, most of my recent blog posts appear to be featuring mostly shades of brown recently not that it is intentional. Future Hay

The smell of the gras was fantastic. It would be very good hay after being harvested. The mellaps would like it. The mellaps were mainly Sandra's invention. Not too many people knew about them and when somebody saw one by mistake they mostly thought that it would be an oversized sheep. Of course those thoughts were wrong. They were more undersized cows. Sandra loved milk but then she had to realize that she became allergic to it. First she tried several tricks. There were surely enough books about how to deal with that allergy. But all that helped only a bit. And she hated soymilk. She wanted the creamy taste which only got really satisfied by cowmilk in her opinion. Luckily she had a lot of knowledge about genetical engineering. First she tried to modify herself but this did not work very well. Of course she became able to deal with milk but somehow her toe- and fingernails- started to grow very much and somehow it also seemed like she was getting more hair on her skin. In a pretty pattern with white and black spots. When she had the impression that she was growing horns she stopped experimenting with herself and started to try to change cows. During her experiments she found out that she was able to deal with the milk from cows with long hair and that the curlier it was the better her body was able to handle the liquid. Sandra was very happy about this as it allowed her just to raise cows on a normal way without having to spend time in the laboratory. The success did not only make her happy it also made her rich and she always had to laugh when seeing the mellaps wandering around. They looked funny.

Halcali is a great store when it comes to elegant dresses and at the moment two of theirs are available as gifts. The green one with the patterns is their gift in the Candy Nail Mall which opened recently. The Candy Nail Mall is a mall for nails and there are also some pieces of art shown. The building is lovely and its definitly worth to take a look at it. Outside of the central store with all the nails is a lovely street with little stores. Halcali has a satelite store in one of them. The red dress with the fitting hat is the Halcali Valentines groupgift and still available in their mainstore. The Earrings come from Aura. They are made of mesh and available at the March Mesh Madness. The skin comes from the same store. The Zombie popcorn brand moved to a new location. It looks lovely and the upper picture has been taken there. Wasabi pills take part in the first round at that new location. They released a second version of their Monique hair. This one comes without braids. Parting the hair at the side normaly looks elegant and so does this hair. Purple poses also take part in the Zombiepopcorn Brand event. The pose on the first picture belongs to the ones they sell there.

[switching to ginger... and boobs]

Ever since my fellow blogger Dagmar introduced the "Switch your gender for 0 Linden"-challenge, I have been snooping around for nice looking items to create a female avatar, and here she is: Darla, the ginger-haired summer fairy - or at least that is what she reminded me of, even without wings.



The skin was easily found and is a prize of one of the 28 (!) Lucky Boards at Mother Goose's. Most of the skins you can win there are female, but the owner, Milok Hermit, always makes sure to have some male items around as well. Since I hardly ever like the pre-made shapes floating around on the grid, I made one on my own to match the skin, and you can scoop it up in the Eclectic Equations group for free. ::Umedama Holic:: was the provider of Darla's eyes; they have a really stunning, realistic look and seem to be a permanent freebie in store. Hairwise, Exile is the place to go to collect a wide variety of female (and male) styles for free, and they all come in fatpacks, too!

Yes, here I am in the Bukka lucky board boots that I have been stalking for days, if not weeks! If I'm not the last person in the whole of Second life to have them, then go there immediately and don't leave until you have them! they are free & I can't believe it! It's going to be just like when I was a young girl (tomboy rather),  and I wore my sacred boots. My mother still teases me now that I slept in them,  I loved them so much, that she couldn't prize them off of me!
