Fantasy Faire 2017 - The Butterfly Wrangler

Other towns had rats and mice for vermin… the City of Purple Dawn had butterflies.

Each year, when the first buds started blossoming on the pink-and-blue Dreamcatcher Trees, the elderly and experienced inhabitants of the City of Purple Dawn pulled out their protective hats and veils from the wardrobe, because they knew the butterflies would swarm in very soon... and when the butterflies swarmed, they meant business.

When the situation became really desperate, and the inhabitants of the City of Purple Dawn could not leave their homes because there were butterflies everywhere, hanging from the trees, walking on the ground, fluttering in the air, the Council of the Wise knew it was time to call Her... Their saviour and benefactor, the Butterfly Wrangler.

There she came, a beautiful and calm woman, quietly humming a mysterious tone, a cage with a few captive butterflies in her hand. The sea of colourful insects parted before her; then their swirling dance slowly changed as they started following the Butterfly Wrangler, one lepidopteran after another, then dozens, then hundreds, then millions. 

The Butterfly Wrangler was leading them out of the City of Purple Dawn, her figure became small in the distance, surrounded by a dancing and vibrating cloud of colours... and the inhabitants of the City of Purple Dawn sighed, pulled out their brooms from the cupboard, and started cleaning up the streets after the invasion of the flying six-legged vermin.

A dryad's dream - Fantasy Faire 2016

Spring was moving through the woods. Winter's chill grip loosened gradually, day by day. As a soft breeze blew warmth through bare boughs, sap began to rise, bringing life back into cold dead wood. Thalia watched the change of season creep toward her, eyes for months shielded by a layer of bark and moss blinking free. Tingling shifted to movement as leaf by leaf unfurled, roots drinking deep as frozen ground thawed. Sunlight was no longer a harsh glare, but reached the softening earth through a canopy of shimmering green.

She had listened long to the stories told beneath her branches. In the gently curving glade she had made her home, people had come each spring, each summer, to rest, to eat and share their stories. Travellers, couples and families, each brought their tales. The families were her favourites, they brought books, bound in leather, or with cardboard covers crumpled from years of use. Tales of magical beings, perilous quests and curses broken. It had been years since she had chosen to put down roots, to sleep for a while in the soil.

This spring Thalia felt the joys of spring more strongly, it was the season for the dryad to climb out of the tree, to feel different grass beneath her feet. There were flowers across the glade she longed to smell, the fitful breeze had never blown their scent her way. This year she would visit other glades, other trees, greet the rivers and streams, enjoying her freedom.

Honey magician

If it would have been only about the sweetness honey wouldn't have been important for the fairies. They knew how to get sugar and some of them were amazing cooks. But honey was not only tasty it also could help with wounds. For a human it wouldn't have been a problem to get a swarm of bees but its a difference if an animal is as big as your fingernail or nearly as big as your head. It took a while until they found a way to tame bees. It was a brave fairy who found a hurt beequeen one day. She spent some time to heal the insect and they became friends. This was the first time when the fairies got honey without any danger. Later there were fairies which only cared about the bees. All the bee caretakers had a little wand which allowed them to communicate with the bees. They brushed their wings and helped them cleaning their legs. It was a great solution and at some day they even got the bees to carry them around.
Elvenbreath is a well known creator for fantasy clothes. With the petites they also started to create outfits for those. The Little Jeannie is one of those. Its a cute otufit coming with two kinds of trousers and a pretty scarf which is being worn around the hips. The set includes also wristlets.
The antlers from europa are made of unrigged mesh so its possible to make them a lot smaller. They are originally made for normal sized avatars. So when stretching down the horns make sure that the "stretch textures" box is checked in the build menu.
The staff belongs to a jewelry set from AZE, which has been created for Petites. The set includes also a pretty crown.
The wonderful furniture for petites in the background has been created by The Looking Glass. It includes a beehouse, furniture and decorations all in a sunflower style. The set is currently available at the fantasy faire. The Faire will end at Midnight SLT at monday so do not miss the chance to take a look at the sims before it closes.

Floating over flowers

There it was happening finally. Cita smirked lightly. The dress had the effect she had hoped it would have. A lot of efford had been needed to create it. Her dream was to make a dress which would allow her to float over flowers like pollen. Of course Cita wouldn't have worn just pollen. She had the magical abilities to make it behave like it normaly did even when it was glued on something else. But just using her skin would have been boring and also could have caused confusion if anybody would have seen her flying naked over meadows. She wanted to be impressive so she spend ages on collecting so much pollen that it would be enough to carry her and then she started to wove it into a gown. And it worked. Not that it was important for Cita now that she had reached her goal.

The gallery gift shop has as beautiful items as always and this Kimono from MiuMin is one of them. It can be worn in three versions, as normal kimono, in a mermaid version with a wider skirtlike bottom and in the gown version like on the picture. All of them look great and beside the gown the set contains also accessories like a bag and flowers for the hair. The primparts all look very light and move with every move of the avatar. The getas which come also with the set are hidden in the mermaid and gown version but visible in the normal kimono version. Of course the set contains also tabi socks. As many items at the gallery gift shop the Kimono can be bought in a copy or in a transfer version.
The short hair is the latest release from Wasabi Pills. It is made of mesh but different than most mesh hair its unrigged. As it is short hair it is also not really needed to rig it. So it can be handled as normal sculpted hair. And if you have bought hair from Wasabi Pills before and still know how much you needed to resize your sculpted hair from that store, those numbers are exaclty the same at this hair - as its non rigged it comes with a resizer and can be moved.
The flowers on the picture come from The Looking Glass. This store sells awesome plants which look like they would come from an other planet. As those on the picture change their colour and glow they are actually really not very earthy. They are sold no copy but transfer in a set which contains several versions of them.
The background is a skybox from Spessart, it has a footprint of 26 x 26 and is made of 12 prims. The pose comes from purple poses.

Drink the anger

Reading was always one of her preperations. She spend a night before she started to work on reading about everything humans did not like. Her black eyes gliding over the lines of letters and her thoughts focused on finding ideas about how to cause chaos and anger. Those feelings were the ones she lived from. She sucked them in with her beak like a perverted big version of a bumblebee.

She was well prepared for her work, her feet were clean so that she would not leave any footsteps. She only visited the houses where people lived who did not believe in Santa Claus anymore. It would not have been right to mess up his work but those who did not believe anymore in the magic of christmas were her victims. She went into their houses and then she started to exchange gifts. It was her fault when women got a vacum cleaner as gift or when men got their 138st tie. Of course she took care that children got boring books and clothes which itched. She was really good in her job. And she caused so many arguments each christmas. But she was simply so hungry.

There are so many amazing gifts among the giving circle ones. The fireplace is a part of the gift from the looking glass. Its a very lovely one and the socks let it fit to the season. The bed from Mole End also is one of those gifts. Mole End belongs Evangeline Miles who is also the owner of Evie's closet. The bed comes in a linked and an unlinked version so its possible to take away some of the decorations if needed. At Angelwing is currently a christmas hunt going on. There are several wings hidden in the store which contain full outfits (for women). The Xylia one is one of those. It has many lovely prim parts like the bands for the ankles and the flute at the necklace. The mask is currently a groupgift from Contraption. It is only available at Christmas.

Alice Nr. 8

It had been a long day. Alice Nr. 8 needed a rest. She had been at the front for several hours fighting against the army of deception. It was a bloody work and somehow she liked it. This time she had killed about rhinoceroses. The deception used rhinoceroses of the size of bunnies as spies. Alice never managed to find out why but she killed them.

Now she needed a rest. She used to sleep in a big basket with a teapot and a hat. She had found out that none of the beings of the deception managed to get her when she rested on the flying hat. And it movements made her sleep very deep. In her dreams she hugged bunnies.

The Disgruntled Alice Dress is currently on the midnight mania board at Brain Circuit Inc. It comes with puffed sleeves and could be either worn with a bloody top and skirt or in a clean version. Both are included in the pack. The skirt is mod so it was possible to make it smaller to fit my avatar. The basket with the hat and the teapot is a groupgift from The Looking Glass. The glowing flowers on the pictures are from the same store. They change their colour and look great. The set includes several circles of flowers in a noncolourchange and a colourchange version. They are non copy but trans. The Looking Glass has a great collection of plants and buildings which simply look different. Their plants could grow in a fairy garden as well as on an other planet. Its the same with their buildings and their furniture. The textures are all stunning and done with love and I guess also with hours of work.

Crystal flowers

It was always hard work to get the dreamflowers. She had to manage to dream herself to them. She was a great dreamer but this was a really difficult task. Those dreamflowers only grow in dreams which contained nothing but them. So she had to manage to imagine emptyness. It was one of the hardest task for a dreamscout but she knew how important it was that the wizzards always had enough of those plants. They were the most important ingredient in the spells which healed broken hearts.

The Looking Glass have always a gift hidden somewhere on their sim. This month its a set of crystals. The ones from the picture which look like plants belong to this gift. They are well made and not primmy. The set contains five crystals. The gift is hidden somewhere on the looking glass sim. You could find the hint to find the gift in the little town on the same sim. The sim is really beautiful so it is fun to search there and there are some groupgifts available as well. House of Fox takes part in the current For the Love of hunt. In this one the participating stores set one of their items on 1L$. The jumper on the picture is this item from said store. The primparts include an resizescript and the textures are very pretty. The boots are a current groupgift from Tainted. They also come with a resizescript. I like all the leatherbands on them. The necklace is an other freebie. I won it on the Southpaw lucky chair.

Moonchild

She was now alone at the island for three years and it was still irritating sometimes. But it seemed like there was no other possibility or way to deal with the things she caused. She wished so much just to be a normal being. Although she had not really an idea how to define normal. Everyday she wore the necklace with the strange symbol. It had been a gift from her parents but not to make her look pretty. It actually contained a charm which kept others away from her.

She had been born by a human mother but she had been more created than she would be the result of love. Her parents wanted to have a moonchild and they got one. But wishes like that should not be fullfilled. Still exhausted from the rites which had been needed to be performed to get a moonchild her mother became insane during the birth. Getting in contact with somebody who was moonbound and not earthbound was to much for her although she was only 24. So her father tried to raise her but soon he recognized that things around her started to change. Plants started to get leaves in strange colours and when he recognized that his skin started to glow lightly he sent her away on the island. She cried and plead not wanting to be alone. It was his fault that she was like she was and so she demanded from him to stay with her. But although he loved his daughter he loved power more than her he was allready experimenting with an other woman to create a being which might give him the powers his first born daughter could not give. So she had to go. The island was pretty but with the time the plants started to change. They started to glow and the leaves of the trees made strange alluring sounds. She spend her time with wandering around or reading books which came with the boxes of food her father let drop by helicopters every week. But one week ago she had found out that one of the mushrooms had started to talk.

This outfit from The looking glass is called moonchild. This reminded me on the book by crowley with the same title. I wonder how such a being might feel among all the "normal" humans. There is also a great song by fields of the nephilim which has the title moonchild.
The outfit could be worn on several ways. It comes with a jacket which could be used as jacket or as vest. The trousers could be worn with flares (made of prims) or not. And there is a skirt included in the set as well. The textures which have been used and created for this outfit are amazing. Small elegant patterns in shades of purple. All the parts are non copy but trans so this is an outfit which could be used as gift very easily. I had to resize the skirt and the belt a bit as well as the sleeves of the jacket. The primparts come without a resizescript but those are easily to resize so it is not really needed.
The pictures for this post (well not the ones with the white/grey background) have all been taken at The Looking Glass, where this outfit is also sold. The shop with the clothes is on the top of the hill. But you could also get the most of the plants which you could see on the pictures as well on that sim. They are sold in a a building in the north west of the sim. Its a great place to explore and wonderful for pictures.
