Jack or Jill - Part 1

Ooh yeah!  It's back again, the dual strand gender bending hunt from Depraved Nation. Fifty stores for the Jills - all you lovely ladies, and fifty for the Jacks - all you beautiful boys! Of course, you can hunt them all, and see what you can find - some things just look great on everyone! Here you can take a look at some of the items - a far from exhaustive list - from both tracks.

Please remember - should you choose to take on the challenge - that hunting has an ettiquete all of its own. Don't go shouting out locations of prizes, or TP people directly to them. Don't moan that you have to spend some time actually hunting for your prize. It's not a pile of goodies ready and waiting under your Xmas tree. Bad mouthing the people giving high quality items away for free is utterly counterproductive. It stops hunt happening. Problems will always occur - prizes may get moved by owners after someone has given away a location - the hint may become out of date. Be polite. Ask for help. Ask for a hint. And - being a two way street - the businesses should be giving a reasonable hint where it's in the ethos of the hunt to provide them.

Darkness will rise from the deep

Once upon a time... when the days were short, and the nights were long...

A soft creak of wood and metal would greet each twilight. Coming up from deep in the cavernous excavations hidden under the house on the hill, the telltale sound was audible to none but the crows beginning their roost in the gnarled trees which guarded the bramblestrewn garden. This softest of sounds was followed by others. The moaning, and occasional crashes were explained away by townspeople as subsidence, the land was old, and old things would creak... Far below their feet someone still older was waking, and making the noises.

Closer to the thick stone walls of the sanctuary, the noises resolved into their true forms. Stumbling out of the coffin, things were bound to get knocked over. Shins would be bruised, expletives would rain down as he pressed icy fingers to his temples, shading his vision from the searing pain of soft candlelight, easing into animation as the hangover from hell pounded and throbbed behind his eyes.

He would stand a while, centred in his mausoleum, letting the memories ebb and flow, settling back into a pattern only discernible from the nightmares of those who scurried about on the surface above by its unyielding clarity. As the tide of blood drew back, he again knew his name. Names were given to him, in different places, at different times. As seasons changed, so must he, if only on the surface. In this time, he could fit in as easily as any other, new ink graced old skin... it wouldn't last forever, but for now, it pleased him, and some others, to look at it.

Some hated it of course... designed to be divisive, it won friends and enemies. Followers of fashion all, in one way or another, be it of the flesh or spirit. None of it mattered much, a means to an end for him. Pulling the thick woolen sweater over his head, moonlight, seeping through fissures in the rock, reflecting from well placed crystals, gilded his skin. Black ink, driven deep marked him out as one of this age's exiles, their otherness forming a protective barrier, one which he could stalk from, and hunt within whenever the mood struck... Which it would, and often did.
More awake now, he turned to view the fruits of his labour the night before. The old copper tub, heated to the all important 37 degrees was half full... this was a little necessary luxury, not an extravagance. Even this had tired him. Slipping into the vitae, jeans and all, a wry smile would twist his lips at the thought.."Perhaps this is me growing old at last..."

Batty - TSG Sinners Hunt "Wrath"

Bathyna De Wings was bored to death. Her favourite season – Autumn, with Halloween and all that lovely November fog – was long over. She survived December and Christmas only because she pretended it was mysterious and creepy Samhain and not the bright-and-funny kids’ holiday with presents, as people obviously preferred it to be. Even Impy, her favourite household demon, eternal companion and confidant, looked desperate.

“Shall we go and bother the bats in the castle tower?” – proposed Bathyna but the very moment she pronounced the words she could see it was a mistake. Impy flapped his tiny bat wings and cracked his long skeletal fingers in rather an annoyed manner. He wasn’t delighted. “Shall we go to the kitchen, then, and bite off the heads of those leftover gingerbread men....?” Now Impy looked a lot more satisfied. “Gingerbread heads off, then...” – Bathyna said, and secretly started counting the days until next Halloween.

The theme of the first Sinister Goth Sinners Hunt is „Wrath”, so you may expect tons of red-and-black stuff, burning eyes and prickly horns. :) The hunt started on January 12^th and it will end in a few days, on January 31^st to be exact, so you still have a few days to pick up your batch of sinister goodies.

Candy girls...

Candy and her friend Floss lived in a sugar coated world. Marshmallow stars glittered in a blue velvet sky each night, and each day broke with the rising of a shining slice of candied orange. The people you could meet there were as sweet as you could hope for, but never too much, they wouldn't want to give any visitors a toothache.

Candy loved pastels, the lightest treats, with delicate flavours. Strawberry and blueberry, icecream sundaes, the finest spun sugar. She would decorate the prettiest of cakes, swirling flowers in frosting, adding sprinkles and glitter to all she came near. Loved by everyone, her gentle nature added delight to each treat, all finished off with a cherry on top.

Floss was every bit as sweet as her friend, getting to know this occasionally just took people a little longer. There was a hard shell protecting her, to some she would seem sour, but with time and patience, you could come to know the real her. She was hard, sure, but she had a softer side, her company enjoyable to keep for hours at a time.

Together these candy girls could really sweeten up your day.

How have I not stumbled across this before? The Perfect Wardrobe is a bi weekly event - currently the theme is Candy Shop. It features many fabulous designers, who have items matching the theme on offer for a mere L$90 each. The value of these gifts is mindboggling. As I was opening up what I'd bought I was amazed. Zombie Rock

Some had said death was the end... There were even songs written about it. Others knew better, and of course, now there had been some songs written about that too. The Reaper was not someone to fear. The transition wasn't always pleasant, and the food took a bit of getting used to, but still...

Out in the backwoods, she was away from one spotlight, the one she had chased in her life before, but there had been another ready and waiting. Once the cities had fallen, the new undead needed fresh prey. Fear motivated reprisals from those still alive on other continents had laid waste to much that remained after the initial fires, leaving few around worth the chase in the rubble of vast metropoli. Out here in the wilds, people still needed entertainment. Far from the shuffling undead most people had come to expect from countless films, these... people.. they could move. They could dance. Some could sing. The crowds would gather at twilight, and sometimes near dawn. Before or after the hunt, to set sluggish pulses racing or to celebrate. Thudding from the decrepit generator, powering the whole event, kept added its irregular beat as her hand gripped the mic stand. The crowds would go wild, it was just in this new world, the arms rising to wave in the air as she sang would not always belong to those waving them...

A space oddity...

YYYAAAWWWWWWNNNNNNNN!!!

It had been a long day alright, with lectures and seminars, then time in the research library, all before the hours volunteering at the planetarium. Even after the long days work Estella could lose herself in the stars, tracing their paths across the manufactured sky, enlightening those who came to see the show. Educating without ever boring, her passion for the subject shone through. As happy to talk through complex theories as she was to create stories to inspire young minds about other worlds, but now her day was done, it was time to sleep.

Closing her eyes, the world never went away, rather it opened up into her dreams.

Transported across lightyears to where she felt free, she would dance through the cosmos. Stepping lightly on belts of meteors, she could move without gravitys restriction, tails of comets brushing through her hair as she gazed on sights unseen. Planets passed by as she traced the orbits of moons, learning things about the universe and herself that she could never explain. Worlds everywhere would turn, as would those on them, in their dreams. Estella would stay here as long as she could, galaxies spiralling in her eyes.

Discover the mystery of the Silent Peacock Hotel...

What happened to the fifteen people who vanished after spending a night in the hotels room 326?

Sure the Hotel is a bit down at heel, a little shabby around the edges. You can't expect a place with a reputation like this to get so many guests as to warrant everything being kept like new. 

Times were hard in this part of town, but even here, the management had decided that it just would not be reasonable to charge room costs to the accounts of those never seen again after visiting room 326...

 

Welcome to another marvellous MadPeas Event! This is a grid wide novella, letting you into a dark world of long corridors, thickly carpeted to deaden any screams. Fifteen missing people, fifteen locations for you to search for an envelope, something you will hear each received shortly before their disappearance at the hotel.
Just make your way to the Silent Peacock Hotel, and buy a newspaper (50L$ for your game HUD) from one of the dispensers by the front doors.
