Desert Rose - Block 100 Fair

The city was known as the Desert Rose, it wore its name well. Sandstone walls of pinkish hue towered above the rolling sands, stretching out for days on three sides. The ocean guarded the fourth, it was here that she liked to watch the sunset, the glowing lifegiving orb dipping into the waves drew the finest colours from the city which was her home. The lanterns had been lit all along the shoreline, from the harbour to the thorn gardens. It had been a long walk, but one she took each evening to bid farewell to the sun, and greet the coming of night, easing the transition through the line of fire, each lit from the coals nestled in the urn she carried in her hand. She began her walk at the cliffs, came through the harbour, the first lanterns lit in the brightness of day, the last as evening mists rolled into the thorn gardens. The soft sea fret gilded the roses as beautifully as any morning dew, it was these she picked to adorn her hair; their delicate fragrance, spiced like the desert winds, accompanied her as watched the sun set.

The 100 Block Fashion Fair is back in 2015.

A full sim fashion fair showcasing many designers, each offering up an item exclusive to the fair, available at 50% off! You can shop to some excellent tunes, as on particular nights there are live DJs for your entertainment.
For those interested in photography, showing off the items they have bought - there is a photo contest running, in which you could win prizes valued at over L$ 200,000.

Moonlight magic

She would put a spell on the world.

When darkness fell in the town of New Babbage, and the majority of scholars at the institute were tucked up in their libraries, common rooms or beds, the nocturnal students were beginning their work. Many took over from their daylight colleagues, keeping the labs and lecture halls filled around the clock. Jayna had spent the twilight hours at study with her companions, ensuring the instruments were in order, whirring and ticking away. As the clock struck thirteen, and the bells began to chime they took to the streets. Perhaps tonight it would work... all of their efforts. Aligning themselves throughout the institute grounds they looked up to the stars, waiting on the movement of planets, for clouds to shift, and moonlight to shine...

They shouldn't have done it. Such was the comment murmured in lecture halls and shouted in corridors and streets. Those nocturnal students had unleashed moonlight on the town, had done it with no communication to those who dwelt in the day. Day had outranked night for hundreds of years, overwhelming numbers had sidelined the night students; the enlightenment itself was named for their victory, for their discoveries, but now... Karyne was unswayed by arguments of tradition and continuity. In the daylight she had toiled for years, developing her science, practising and experimenting. All paths had led to frustration, to a glimpse of what was possible, only for it to be snatched away. Now moonlight bathed the institute, making it hard for her scholarly companions to think, but for her, it opened the door so long locked and bolted. In this new light she could feel it, here and now, magic would begin to happen.

Dawn to Midnight - Fashion For Life 2014

High above the rooftops of the city stood the beacon. On the beacon Dawn waited. She had waited all night, just as she did; each and every night. People thought she was a morning person. They were wrong. She was THE morning person, and for that, she stayed up all night.


Eleven o'clock was mere hours away, the time the ball was due to start. She and the palace workers had spent weeks dusting away cobwebs and polishing the floor until it shone like burnished gold. Now, wrapped up in silk to match the sky of approaching midnight, she paced the floor. Waiting, waiting, heartbeat racing; then finally, the first knock at the door.

Now, I know I'm always positive about items I blog here, why would I blog things I didn't like? But this, this is in a league of its own. The design of this is something else. Layers of fabric akin to articulated armour, all in beautifully textured fabric.

Fashion for Life runs until the 20th - so get on over to the Sims, and do something wonderful by shopping!
There is also a 'Passport' game to play - pick up a HUD, then on each SIM, in the GACHA section, there's a souvenir to purchase for L$ 50. Wear or add, and your passport gets a stamp. Collect em all, and head back to the TP point of any of the Sims, and pick your Prize, donated by some of the great designers at the event. I went for the -IrodorI- Red peony, a complete outfit with hair! I think it looks pretty good too!
