Desert Dance - Fantasy Faire 2018

Life in the Sanorian desert was one of extremes. The dunes extended for thousands of miles, it was said. Few who took it upon themselves to venture far into their barren expanse came back to tell the tale. There had been a great civilisation here once, so the ruins told. But over how many centuries had it reigned? How quickly had it fallen?

These things had been lost in the sandstorms of time. Many of the people had been lost too, or had left by ship if they had the means to do so. Those who remained had not cared to maintain the day to day ways of the great civilisation from which they were descended, not in any great depth anyway. There were far more important things to take up their time, scratching the surface of the ever encroaching sands to farm what crops they could, building shelters for themselves and their animals. Adaptation was a harsh lesson, easy in its way, but harsh nontheless. Those who could not adapt, who tried to force the world to fit their previous experience of it were doomed to failure. Those feted to succeed were those who could look around themselves, see the nooks and crannies, areas in which shadows pooled, cool and refreshing even at the height of the sun. As it was there that life began, and there life was maintained with no need for intervention. Those who discovered this grew strong, and carried her with them, so there she revelled.

Once the sun began to fall, and shadows lengthened, she had more scope. Soon the heat held in shifting sands would dissipate, sinking lower and lower. Walking across the dunes she liked to feel the grains of sand between her toes, a tactile comfort which dancing across the heat haze of day could never hope to provide. The shimmering sunset glinted on the sea, igniting the fire in her eyes. While ancient ceremony had been lost and temples had fallen, the people who remained clung on to their beliefs, and so she endured. Civilisations would build up again, she had no doubt. People would come, develop, grow. From the sands, greatness would emerge. You could trust her on this. In the desert, you could always trust the Djinn.

Fantasy Faire's Arrival

Early one spring morning, the mists began to lift. Ethana rose with them. Through the long year her world had slept, or so it was thought. Each year it returned, changed, whether by its travels through the mists, or the other realms it graced. She was glad to be back...

Each evolution was a surprise, the form the earth beneath her feet would take, the colour of the sky, it was all new. Emerging from the mists was a revelation in every sense, the Fairelanders could be altered along with their surroundings, viewing their new world with new eyes. Such had been Ethana's choice this time. Opening her eyes to see a soft shimmering haze replacing the mists, gentle strains of music resolving into the calming lap of cool water against stone.

Walking around the calm and quiet of her new world, she stumbled upon evidence of its heart and purpose, and the name her new surroundings had taken. "Compassion..." she murmured, her voice melding with the whispering from the willows all around. The air around her echoed with it, seeming to come from all sides, a comforting embrace.

"Compassion..." she murmured again, "That feels right." She span on the spot, seeing more and more, taking in the domed buildings, the towering statue, the multitude of lilipads. Spinning and dancing,  her new body delighting with each movement, each sight, each feeling. This was the beauty of the Fairelands. As much as they transformed in their appearance, and the Fairelanders along with them, they were forever unchanged in spirit, heart and purpose. Come and join them. They are waiting to welcome you home.

Celebrating its tenth year, Fantasy Faire 2018 is the largest gathering of fantasy designers, enthusiasts, roleplayers and performers in the virtual world. From Thursday, April 19 to Sunday April 29, treat yourself to eleven days of shopping, dance and theater performances, DJ parties, auctions, questing, Literary Festival, fantasy art, events and roleplaying as thousands of Second Life residents and creators bring their own visions together to support the American Cancer Society’s vision of a world without cancer.

In addition to ten shopping regions, there’s also five whole Fairelands dedicated to various Faire events from Memorial Garden to the Fairelands Quest, from Literary Festival to Performance Stages, from Art Galleries to the Worldling Collection. This brings the Fairelands count of 2018 into fifteen sims, just waiting for you to come and explore them.

The Twisted Hunt 2014 Spring - Magick In The Make

She knew today would be the ideal day to do some magick. Already the dreams had been promising. Her protecting spirit, a mighty golden dragon, had visited her the night before. She knew her powers would soon be pouring out and flowing free. She gently moved her fingers, tentatively, and she felt the familiar tingle under her skin. Magick was accumulating in her, slowly surging, swirling, waiting to be released. Suddenly she noticed the dim light taking shape in her palms. Oh yes... an Orb of Power... she hadn't summoned one for ages. But today was the day to do some magick. She was slowly rolling the blob of energy around in her palms and she was quietly smiling.

It is Spring. Do you know how I know? Because the Spring edition of the Twisted Hunt has started today! This year the theme is "Magick", and the creators, whose shops I had the time to visit, have lived up to the expectations quite marvellously. There are more than a hundred participants in the hunt, so you must be patient if you want to collect all the gifts... and more so because there's a good reason why The Twisted Hunt is called "twisted"... so patience, fellow hunters, and good luck!

Jack or Jill

It had been a long day. It had been a long hard day. It had been a long, hard productive day. They had trawled through almost a hundred stores, searching for just the right items, catching up each like a prize. feet were aching, eyes were sore, night had fallen, and morning sun now licked the edges of the windows. Hunting for bargains was only ever the start, once you found everything you were looking for, you had to haul the loot home, open it up, and try it all on.

For the uninitiated - Depraved Events each year host Jack or Jill - a gridwide hunt of two paths, male and female, each with around 50 stores to search for a prize. Also shown - not part of the Jack or Jill hunt - but certainly useful for many of the prizes - are the

 Slink Female Feet (AvEnhance). These MESH beauties boggled my mind at first - as I tend not to read instructions - just get all stuck in, and end up with no legs, then grey legs, then no legs again - but WOWZA. Once I got things sorted out - these have totally taken over from my other Slink feet which are all now a few years old. The look is great - the HUDS are intuitive, and it was easy to colour match. Appliers are being made by an ever increasing number of skin designers - and now clothing specialists are getting in on the action. The Stockings shown above from C h a r y are a look I really love - half on - half on the foot, giving a realism so rare until now in SL!  The feet are available on Markeplace - or at the Slink mainstore for L$675.

Batty - TSG Sinners Hunt "Wrath"

Bathyna De Wings was bored to death. Her favourite season – Autumn, with Halloween and all that lovely November fog – was long over. She survived December and Christmas only because she pretended it was mysterious and creepy Samhain and not the bright-and-funny kids’ holiday with presents, as people obviously preferred it to be. Even Impy, her favourite household demon, eternal companion and confidant, looked desperate.

“Shall we go and bother the bats in the castle tower?” – proposed Bathyna but the very moment she pronounced the words she could see it was a mistake. Impy flapped his tiny bat wings and cracked his long skeletal fingers in rather an annoyed manner. He wasn’t delighted. “Shall we go to the kitchen, then, and bite off the heads of those leftover gingerbread men....?” Now Impy looked a lot more satisfied. “Gingerbread heads off, then...” – Bathyna said, and secretly started counting the days until next Halloween.

The theme of the first Sinister Goth Sinners Hunt is „Wrath”, so you may expect tons of red-and-black stuff, burning eyes and prickly horns. :) The hunt started on January 12^th and it will end in a few days, on January 31^st to be exact, so you still have a few days to pick up your batch of sinister goodies.
