Sketch Artist

Knock, Knock, Knock. No answer, no reply. Looking around, he checked the number on the building, it had seemed such an unlikely spot after all. Reaching into his pocket he pulled out a folded note. Torn from thick heavy paper, its edges feathered with fine graphite lines, the fade out of some sketch were overwritten with a confident hand. The address was right, and the time... "Hey" the call spun him on the spot. There she was, the girl with the sketchbook. Grinning, he moved to walk toward her until she held up a hand. "No" she paused, letting her bag drop to the ground, crouching to rummage in it, and rising again with a sliver of charcoal in her hand. "Stay just where you are." As she spoke, more like her appeared, each with sketchpad in hand. Soft murmurings of voices drifted across the lane to him as they nodded to each other. "The light here is perfect..." she said, settling down next to her bag on the cobblestones, her hand already tracing the lines of the building behind him onto the page. "Now, take off your shirt." Changing things up a bit, with one for the bois. More from District 5!

District5

L'école d'art had an expansive summer programme, sending students across the continent in search of ideas. Each student, talented in their own way, packed up their new bags and went out to explore. Everyone was given their choice of equipment, the tools of their trade with which to hone their craft. Some would work in marble, others in fabrics or oils. Each began with pencils and paper, wandering the streets and lanes of strange towns for inspiration. All would come together in the end, in the name of art. Ah... Depraved Nation. NEVER disappoints. If you haven't been to District5 yet, where have you been? What have you been doing? Eh? Wait! Don't go yet! *chuckles* Here's what you can expect.

1 SIM - Five themed areas like the spokes of a wheel. From cheerful and rustic, to grimy and sordid - there's something for everyone. Here's a little of what I found - with more to come soon!

Love Ulaa - Please Help

"Love Ulaa is a fundraising event which aims to raise at least $200 towards sending Ulaa Coronet to visit her terminally ill mother. She has raised half of her target herself through gofundme. Now it's time for the SL community to step in and lend a loving hand to one of our own."

This morning I've received a group notice from Evangeline Miles of Evie's Closet, in which she speaks of her RL friend in the gentlest terms, and she applies for our help. I don't know Ulaa but I know what it means to be in her situation. Many years ago I had to take a plane literally in hours, hoping to be able to see my father still alive in another country. Luckily, I had the money to pay my fare. Ulaa is not this fortunate. The event is open until 18 August, so you have a few days to visit. Please go and spend your Linden Dollars in the best way possible.

Riding the rails

 

It was the era of speed. The twenties roared with shining engines and sparkled with modernity. The horrors of the Great War were not forgotten, they were just that bit harder to see when eyes were dazzled by movement, chrome and sequins. Spitfire welcomed this change, along with all others of her age. The nights were long, free to be enjoyed. Beerhalls stayed open until the dawn, jazz spilled from windows and doorways. She rode the rails between nightclubs, a buccaneer in each carriage, one eye ever open for thrills to come. In the darkest hours of night, she sailed her landbound ship alone, wheels trundling along tracks, wearing to a brilliant shine in the moonlight. Her cabin aglow, sliding through the shadows of the city, the cobbled hills her own high seas. The Fantasy Gacha Carnival is something of a treasure trove. Ok ok I'll stop with the pirate references 

- just such the vibe I get from this dress!

Forest awakening

Deep in her heart was the forest. In the heart of the forest she dwelt. Pines and sentinals formed a near impenetrable barrier around the border; stray trees grew here and there, camouflage in the wilderness. Through the labyrinth of  thickets and thorns, near the centre of the forest, the trees grew less dense. Needles gave way to broad leaves, boughs and branches spread under sun and moon. The clearing ringed a tarn, neither deep nor broad enough to be called a lake, but it brought life to the whole wood, and to her. Each season she woke, covered in fallen leaves or encased in ice. The creatures of the forest scuttled over her skin rousing her from slumber. Water dripped from her hair as her bare feet curled into the leaf litter and loam. Sun and moon beams dappled her skin as she moved slowly around the clearing, her touch caressing bark and fur as she came back to life. Flames flickered, kindling into being on her horns, lighting up the night. Fully awakened, fully alive the forest around her bloomed or withered as was its season. In the clearing she held her court. The throne's eyes were open, the time for judgement was at hand. All the business of the forest must be conducted before the moon waned, and her candles guttered. So little time each season to take in all the beauty her energy created. The woods were so beautiful. She would take the time to enjoy them.

This is a great section for landscaping, especially if you already have similar items from Studio Skye. One click changes the season of all sections you have rezzed. This Enchanted Pond comes in two versions, one with prim water, and one without. For those lucky enough to have land at sea level, this can be rezzed and placed slightly in the water, so you get all the windlight options for water in your scene.
