Eirwen's rise

Eirwen took the throne as the first flakes of snow formed and fell from clouds high above. The court moved with the seasons drifting through the air, shining lights in mist dew and frost. The Seelie court prized beauty above all things; in action and thought as well as appearance. She had long been known for her good deeds; her love of others had led her to intervene in the affairs of mortals, protecting and defending while frost was on the ground. Seasons and tastes changed even among the nobility of the court, and this year she was the ideal, the one all others wished to emulate, in look as well as deed. The court, as fickle as they could be in their personal whims and fancies, maintained their core beliefs through the years. None could live with dishonour, and glory was a goal worth chasing. Eirwen had encountered the Unseelie before, their malevolence and trickery bringing all Sidhe into disrepute. As winter began to bite, their own court would be changing, new plans forming for disrupting and damaging, turning the world as ugly as themselves. This year it would fall to her to lead the Seelie court against them. In times past this had been left to warriors and knights, those males and females determined to prove their worth, their beauty enhanced by the blood on their blades. Not this time. She would be in winter's vanguard, falling into the chaos, balanced on each unique snowflake wit at the ready, and blade in hand. 

The throne would stand empty until victory was won. Totally Top Shelf is a bi monthly themed shopping event featuring great creators in SL. This round is themed around the Winter Seelie and Unseelie court. There's items for many tastes here, from skins and clothing to furniture and rideables in a beautiful winter setting. This outfit blew me away at first sight. The textures and design are amazing. On opening the box - further amazement - it wasn't Mesh. I actually cant remember the last time I bought a current outfit which wasn't Mesh! (As friends who's IMs I wouldn't shut up about this in will attest.) Here, just the SL clothing layers are shown, but the box also contains appliers for just about any Mesh body part you might want to use.

Afternoon Of A Dragon

It was late afternoon and Uriella was quite ready for her proverbial 5 o'clock tea. Dragons had their habits, too, after all. She decided to assume her human form... those tiny wee teacups were not designed for claws, and she didn't want to break the last pieces from her mum's tea set. Uriella wrapped her long human fingers around the transparent bone china cup, and she sighed with relief. Winter was coming. She knew that... but she was fiery, ready and prepared.

The return of a Queen

When the Red Queen was vanquished by the jumped up pipsqueak in her blue dress and fluffy white ruffles it wasn't the end for the House of Hearts. Of course since that day, when the intruder's logic had brought down the palace like a pack of cards; rumours had circulated about her bragging across the lands. Empty words to go with her empty head. For all she thought she knew, coming from some mystical world filled with ow toe mobils and eric trickity, she had said they had a Queen of their own. Strange then, never to expect that when one Queen was removed, there would not be a successor waiting in the wings. Hidden for now of course, slowly building up her own house of cards, but there would be a time to meet the usurper, to put a stop to her lies, and her attempts to change Wonderland. That time was at hand...

Blood Letters

Droplets of blood, dried where they had fallen on the paper, or were smeared across the old fashioned typewritten letters, letters which were arriving day after day. Letters each day signed with a bloody kiss. The Mantis... a serial killer locked away. Her modus operandi out there in the world again, finding people and luring them to their deaths. Clues, drip fed to the detective like blood through an IV, a sticky red trail to follow from one victim to the next. Too close, and the blades perforating the bodies she found would be dangerously close to her own flesh, too far behind... The author of these love notes had made it clear they valued intelligence and wit, she had to keep up, or lose everything. Writing each letter was a joy, the delight of anticipation, imagining just what her face would look like when she saw each envelope. She had done well so far, as repulsed as she may have been by each tableau laid out so carefully for her she had kept on coming. It had been such fun, creating those scenes, the taste of each victim lingered on her tongue, on her fingers, on her... Each day another clue, drawing her closer in to her web, closer to the heart of her lair. The danger was all, the darkness, the blood. It meant everything, to take everything away from someone else, to enjoy it all yourself. If her pawn could only make it, could only work out all of the clues before her, she might not have to enjoy these things alone.

Battles in Wonderland

Alice had long been told she was mad. "After all, we are all Mad here..." The Hatter's saying may as well have been the National Anthem of Wonderland, if people there could put aside their contrariness and concentrate for long enough to make such a decision. That, of course, was about as likely as the caterpillar putting aside his pipe, or the dormouse staying dry. This was not to say that nothing ever changed there, no. Alice's reputation as 'Mad' had been confirmed for many by her rebellion against the Queen of hearts. Was it mad to stand up against tyranny? Alice couldn't think so. It could feel like a never ending task, visiting friends and strangers; letting them know the reign of the Queen was at an end, along with all of her inexplicable rules. There would always be those not accepting of change, and then further battles would follow. If they called her mad for making a change, or mad for expecting them to change along with her she didn't mind. With her Cheshire she would walk the new Wonderland, setting minds and hearts free.

 First post of items from The Fantasy Gacha Carnival in November. The theme this month is MMORPG Battlefield, and there are, as ever, items from the wonderful designers to suit all tastes and RP styles. I've tried hard this month to stick to advice of others who play the gachas, try three times, if you didn't get the item or the colour you were after, c'est la vie. Move on. I say I tried. I didn't always succeed... Still, gachas being gachas, that just means I had some very lucky friends who got my duplicates!

Scream! Halloween Is Near!

Scream! Halloween is near, the otherworldly souls stir and whisper, ready to meet the living. Lady Death ascends the throne for a night, ruling over whatever creature in any realm. Scream, as long as you are able to scream... because silence will be even more terrifying.

Meiló Minotaur and her RL daughter CapCat Ragu are two amazingly talented women whose contribution to SL visual arts cannot be duly appreciated. Their fantastic avatars have a unique and unmistakable style, but what makes them even more unique is that - regardless of where they pop up in SL - they are free and modifiable. I'm an absolute fan of these creatures, so you can understand why I promptly scooted over to Pumpkin Town when I read the blog entry of Eupalinos Ugajin about Lady Death.

The creepy horns are a new creation by Soul (formerly De La Soul), available at The Mystic Realms Faire in the Eldertree Village sim.
