Wild Winged Creatures - Ember's Cauldron Shopping Event

 

The raven knew. Its smart beady eyes looked at his mistress with a mixture of pity and amusement. Fairies were sooo... fragile, compared to a freshly hatched raven chicken. Yet, the raven couldn’t abandon the Lady Anen to her fate. He was her familiar spirit, and that was it. The raven cawed and hoped that the Lady Anen could hear him through the blizzard that chilled her blood and roughed her up, brutally and painfully. The raven could see the ancient oak through the veil of wildly swirling snowflakes... the Oak, the asylum and sanctuary for all winged creatures great and small in The Forest. “She will do it... she reminds me of my firstborn, Qreeth... a cheeky lil fellow...” – thought the raven, and flapped his wings in encouragement.

The Sea Witch - "Filling The Cauldron" Event

Lorelei Blackwave, the lonely sea witch stood on the seashore and she was very sad. She had been exiled from her home under the sea so many years before that she almost forgot how the lights used to dance on the corals and how she used to play with the tame fish. An elaborate incantation went wrong, terribly wrong... and the council of the surviving sea witches and warlocks unanimously decided that she had to leave. She used her incantations on Earth plants ever since, she grew an entire forest of never-seen creatures around the little cave where she lived... but each and every evening, at sunset, she went as close to the salty waves as the ban curse permitted, and whispered goodnight to the deep silent waters.

Happy Easter!

Breaking the egg shell from the inside was hard work. She had been hitting and pummelling on the white china-like surface for hours... then, finally, she was rewarded by a tiny cracking noise. She continued in frenzy. Her fingertips were aching, but it didn't matter at all. She wanted to find a way out of the shell that had been her home for months, but recently became tight and restrictive. There was no sufficient place inside for a grown and winged creature any more... so she had to break free, and find her own space, soaring among the clouds.

The items I'm showing you here are from past events I intended to blog, but a recent stay in the hospital didn't allow me to realise my plans as I originally hoped. Better later than never, I'm wishing you Happy Easter now, with a few amazing items from some of my preferred creators in SL.

The fruits of their joined efforts are many already, among which this marvellous gown originally created for The Countdown Room. Into the Forest : We Love RolePlay - March 2015

In the middle of the forest two hearts beat as one. This was their way, and the way it had always been.

Their way of life had come under threat before. Centuries earlier strangers had come, driving into their coastline, setting their trees screaming with axe and saw, churning and biting the land in an attempt to render it like the one they had left. The land rebelled, fought back with spiny plants, biting insects, poisonous frogs. The strangers were put off, the scars they left lasted decades.

They had come again, these strangers, this time from sea, land and sky. The people of the forest were few, but fierce. They would join their surroundings, sliding easily through shadow and dappled sunlight. The strangers would not see them coming, footsteps masked by soft calls of bird and beast. River and land working with them, their way of life would survive.

Pirates!

The ship had settled into its final resting place on the rocky shore some months back. Now it lay there, breaking up slowly as storms came and went, washing the wooden planks into the murky coves that made up the edges of the island. It was in this darkness and gloom that they now lived.

Here in the mist, they had taken over the positions held so recently by those who had lured their former captain onto the rocks in the first place. On high platforms jutting out from the cliffs lanterns were hung day and night, winking out to ships at sea, promising rest and a chance to trade and restock. Their former Captain had fallen for the ruse, and had paid the price, as he now hung from a tree in the centre of what passed for a town square, deep in the marshy heartland of the island.

Common sense, and the ability to read the stars had told Najma that this was no place to find safety and fair trade. Reading the stars was her occupation, her eyes blindfolded during daylight hours, to further her sight in the darkness. She could plot a true course, guiding the ship safely with Johannes' help. From lowly cabin boy, he had spent his time on ship and on land wisely. Learning from rare master cartographers, and far from eschewing any old sea dog with a scrap of parchment, linen or leather with coastline etched on it. They had told the Captain that this was no safe place, that it was anything but... but the drunken old fool was adamant.

It had all come to and end very quickly. The wreckers on the island took the Captain, then those on the ship took the wreckers. Pirates could exist just as well on land as they could on the water... smugglers coves had to begin somewhere after all. This would be where they would make their stand from now on.

Oh I do like to be beside the sea side... and I'd Yo Ho Ho for a bottle of rum. With the sun finally out here, seems as good a time as any to spend a while in a murky sim, playing pirates, inspired by +REDRUM+.

Climbing the old house's facade was one of the easier tasks, his undead muscles pumped and his thin, pale fingers digging into the plaster as he eventually hauled himself over the balcony's railing, where he paused for the length of a heart's beat. With his head tilted, he inhaled deeply to catch it again, this incredible scent that had lured him out of his hideout and into the night, this bittersweet perfume of a life calling him with its burning wish to be ended in one last outburst of passion. As the smell coiled against his nostrils once more, so seductively mingled with the delicious throbs of a weak heart, he walked towards the tall balcony doors and placed his hand against the cold glass. Of course he'd answer this one's silent prayers for redemption. In the very end, he'd always been a... helpful person.

I can never resist buying stretched ears in SL, probably because I have them in RL, too, and want to check how 'real' they're looking, so I was more than pleasantly surprised and excited when I saw [Mandala]'s advertisement for their new release. Created from unrigged mesh, you can choose between 5 hole sizes, tunnel- or plug ears, 210 plug arts, 88 tunnel colours, 40 piercing- and 18 diamond colours - and all that in one pack! A HUD allows you to tint your skin, resize the ears and change between the different motives and shades, and there is also the possibility to pick if you're wanting to alter the left, right, or both ears at once. You can see some of the variants in the picture above. All taken together, it's a gorgeous piece of work and definitely worth its money!

Owls have always been amongst my favourite animals, but ever since I joined Second Life, this love has most certainly intensified - and since I'm apparently not alone with my liking and people keep creating the cutest items around our feathery friends, I thought it's about time to make a little owl-post.

Vestigium is having a Summer Sale right now, with all items in store being marked down to 50 L$. Poetic Colors has released some really gorgeous mesh eyes in a variety of colours, and I'm wearing their generously given 'caramel'-shade of the so-called Pearl eyes, which are available in their store for nada and come in various sizes and brightnesses.

Even though it's already August, the new Vitamen freebie for July hasn't been out for long yet, so you should still have plenty of time to grab it. This skintight affair in shades of green, gold and copper has a summery hibiscus flower print and could as well serve as swimming trunks - at least that's what I misused them for. The light was perfect. Just pink and yellow like he loved it. Those were the colours he always prefered even on the arrow which had been painted on his cheek by a girl he maybe would lay after the show. Well if he would manage to remember her name. It was now three years ago that they had released their first album and the time since then had been like a dream. Sometimes he was afraid that he would wake up soon but it never happened. The shows were fun although he was normaly so drunken that he hardly ever remembered them.  Sometimes it is fun to style in a special way for example as glam rocker. The ziggy makeup from 22769 is great for this. It is available in many colours and looks great in any of them. To complete the look there are currently some neat items available in the make him over hunt. You need to be member of the huntgroup to be able to get those. The Bone Leather Jacket from BC322 for example. It is made of mesh and comes in several sizes. There is of course an alphalayer included. The boots from Muism are an other great gift in this hunt. They are extremly well made and remind a bit on tanker boots. The guitar and the microphone plus the speakers are all gifts from a store called Witch Babe. They sell many guitars and in the video below you can see the awesome dance which is included in the ao which comes with it. Tableau Vivant takes part in the Femboy Hunt. The gift is a skin which cost 2 Lindens. Purple poses made a set of guitar poses and the static one used for the pictures is one of them. It is possible to buy it with guitar but the poses themself also work with other guitars. Wasabi Pills made a lot of mesh hair. The Hawk one is great for fantasy styles but also great for rockers.

"Your beauty shines bright...",the dark-maned elf had whispered into Amaryth's pointy ear, and the tall-grown creature had no doubt that its mate's words were true, those softly uttered syllables in a tongue of ethereal beauty, like the sing-song of a butterfly's wings when it flew towards a golden summer sun. Praising his flesh, flawless and light like polished ivory, the keen curve of his blonde brows that reminded of the most precise elven bow, and his hair... straight, long tresses of silk spun under a pregnant moon's silvery light. His pink lips curled into a soft and affectionate smile as he placed one, slender hand on the other's chest, right above the heart, and the other over the subtly shimmering sun pendant that was dangling from his neck, held by a thin necklace of sumptuous gold - the gift he'd just received. The CHIC² Birthday Event is still running, and this time I'm introducing a piece of really breathtaking jewellery to you - the Lost Eden Sun Pendant from Maxi Gossamer Accessories. Gentleman explorer

Sometimes the flying islands were still a shock for him. And this although Lord Demian III of Sepiana was expected not to be shocked by anything. But solid ground flying in the air was nothing he had been trained to deal with. Of course sooner or later it would be normal for him like everything he had seen on his travels. It was now the 18st year of his journeys. Like all nobles of the house of Sepiana he had started to travel in the age of 23. And as all Sepiana he never said the truth about his age so the truth was he was nearly 30 when he left the grounds where he grew up. He never had tought that he would like traveling and exploring so he had always prefered to celebrate an other 22st birthday instead of going on a trip. There was no real rule how long the journey should last but most of the ones before him came back after a year. Demian didn't do so. He wanted to see as much as possible. Of course he was always perfectly dressed. There was no reason not to look like a gentleman even in the deepest jungle.

This Friday A:S:S opened a new subbrand although it would be more fitting to call it an old subbrand as the items being sold there are clothes for the 18st century gentleman. The name of the brand is A:S:S Decades. The clothes are perfect for roleplaying or for just being dressed elegant. The vest, socks and the breeches on the picturs belong to the Louis set in blue. The shirt is the worn with the sleeves which belong to the shirt which is originally included in the Louis set. All parts are mod and copy. And they are rather easy to adjust.
The hair comes from Wasabi Pills. Its the dragon mesh hair for men in iceberg. Its possible to colour the hairband which holds the upper part of the hair together with the help of a hud.

The pictures have been taken on a wonderful sim, Cerridwen's Cauldron. There are many spots to explore there. And its a great spot for pictures. All the plants seeable on the pictures are sold there in a shop in the sky. Even the store is worth a visit as there are towers and a pretty garden.

Gardener

Drow, when beings which weren't drow heard that word it made them shiver. They knew that the ones who lived deep in the mountains were more to fear than the worst giant. A long time ago Druunak had been a drow and he agreed. It was smarter to flee from them although it was hardly possible to escape them. As all of his kin he had spend his youth in dark caves somewhere under the mountains always in danger. The next drow was always the next possible killer. For some time he enjoyed it. The silent killings, the intrigues and the parties - which only lead to more killings and intrigues. But then he started to get bored and saw no sense in playing the typical games. Although it were games which could cause his dead he simply wasn't thrilled anymore. Searching for more deepth he made his way up to the surface.

First the bright sunlight hurt his eyes. Everything else would have been surprising. After a while he started to wander downhill and was soon amazed by all the flowers and trees he saw. The naturewas totally different for him. He also met people well met would have been wrong he saw people but they ran away from him, in his opinion they were pretty slow. But then he saw a man working in a garden and approached him and the man didn't run away. The man was old for a human, which meant he was a child for Druunak, but a child with knowledge he wanted so the Drow became the apprentice of the gardener. And finally found something which was better than killing for the sake of killing and more power. Slowly people even got used to seeing him working in the garden. But always when somebody got killed he had to deal with people singing a german song "Der Mörder ist immer der Gärtner".

22769 takes part in two events for men at the moment and for both they created mesh items. For the 3rd round of the narcissus room they made a green hipster jumper. The way the folds are designed is awesome. As the shirt is made of mesh it comes with a alphalayer. It should fit any avatar. The slacker pants are designed for the Mens Departement event. They do not need an alphalayer and are perfect to wear in the morning or when walking around in a casual way. The mens.department event will start at April 7st. There is a group you can join to get more informations about it. Even the poses come from 22769, they were a gift for the bloggers who took part in the 22769 in the blogs exhibition.
The crazy hair hunt runs currently for the third time. The blonde hair with the flowers is the gift from (red) Mint. Its one of the few gifts in the hunt which also go for men - at least thats what I have been told - and is really pretty. The hair comes with a resize script and the gift includes a version with and one without particles.

[hairy spring affair]

Spring is a bit indecisive here - after a couple of weeks that were hot enough to be summer weather already, it's grey and drizzling now, so I'm rather thankful for SL's more predictable seasons. And with spring being around, I usually get the urge to give my inventory and looks a make over... this time, it were these two hairstyles I simply had to add to my collection. The one on the left is one of booN's latest releases, an incredibly realistic looking pair of long dreadlocks - in mesh! Needless to say that I immediately fell in love and bought one of the darker colour packs that includes three shades: chocolate, which I'm wearing in the picture, black and purple. Please make sure you're trying the demo that's available in store for free.

The Creators Pavillion is having a spring sale right now (ending April 15th), and that's where I grabbed the hair on the right, a feathery and slightly messy style from the - to me - unknown store called [INK]. Even though it's not scripted, the manual resizing works quite easily, and there is a bunch of 6 shades to pick from for a mere 69 L$ each. Demos are available as well. Since *ARAI* is represented at the sale as well and offers some pieces of their collection at half price, the fresh looking and vibrantly coloured nylon parka in teal made it into my shopping cart, too. Due to both female and male attachments being included in the folder, it's even unisex!
